Marbella does not have one nightlife strip where every bar and club is within walking distance. Puerto Banús has marina bars, live music and rooftop events. FITZ is in Río Verde, while Momento and Bonbonniere are around the Golden Mile and Carretera de Istán. Starlite takes place uphill in Nagüeles, and Playa Padre is east of Marbella centre at Playa del Cable.
That spread matters when organising a night for a large group. A plan that looks simple on a map can involve several taxis, timed entry and a long wait for transport at closing time.
Start with the type of night the group wants: a flexible evening around the marina, a beach event, a live show, a concert or a club booked around a particular DJ. Budget, music and the date all matter, as does the make-up of the group. Large parties, especially all-male groups, should contact the venue before buying individual tickets.
Opening hours, event calendars, prices and door policies change. Confirm anything connected to payment or admission in writing before collecting money from the group.
What each venue actually is
| Venue | Accurate description | What it is not |
|---|---|---|
| Playa Padre | Beach club and day-to-sunset party venue at Playa del Cable | A permanent late-night nightclub |
| La Siesta | Beach bar and day-to-sunset venue with sunbeds, DJ events and an associated party brand | A conventional nightclub |
| FITZ Marbella | Nightclub and live artist/DJ venue in Río Verde | A marina bar or beach club |
| Bonbonniere Marbella | Nightclub with electronic events and VIP-table bookings on the Carretera de Istán | A Puerto Banús marina venue |
| Momento Marbella | Restaurant, patio, nightclub and event venue on the Golden Mile | Only a restaurant or cocktail bar |
| Starlite Occident | Seasonal open-air festival with concerts and separate Sessions after-parties | A year-round nightclub |
| Joys Live | Live-music and cocktail venue on the Puerto Banús marina | A large nightclub |
| Astral Bar | Cocktail bar at the entrance to Puerto Banús | A nightclub |
| La Habana de Hemingway | Marina-side disco cocktail bar and terrace | A large destination nightclub |
| Pangea Marbella | Rooftop nightlife venue with date-specific parties and table bookings | A standard indoor club with one fixed music policy |
Marbella nightlife areas
Puerto Banús marina
Puerto Banús is the easiest area for a flexible night. Joys, Astral, Tibu, Funky Budda, La Habana de Hemingway and Pangea are all in the wider marina area, so it is possible to start with cocktails or live music and decide later whether to stay or move on.
The port is also convenient for dinner. Groups staying nearby may be able to walk from their restaurant to the first bar, although a property advertised as “Puerto Banús” can be inland in Nueva Andalucía rather than beside the marina. Check the exact address before assuming taxis will not be needed.
Puerto Banús gets busy in summer, particularly when several venues close at similar times. It suits groups that want some freedom during the night. It is less useful when the main priority is a particular international DJ, as most of the larger programme-led clubs are outside the marina.
Nueva Andalucía and Río Verde
Nueva Andalucía spreads inland behind Puerto Banús and is not a compact nightlife area. It is known more for villas, restaurants, lounges and daytime pool clubs than for a walkable stretch of late-night bars. Nomad Lounge is a useful place for cocktails before dinner or a first round before continuing to Puerto Banús or one of Marbella’s main clubs. Its current schedule lists DJs and live entertainment from 20:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. Most groups will still need taxis, even if their accommodation is advertised as close to the port.
FITZ is at Carretera Nacional 340, kilometre 175, in Río Verde between Puerto Banús and the Golden Mile. It is a club people travel to for a chosen event, not somewhere to add casually to a marina bar crawl. Plan both journeys and agree on a pickup point before going inside.
The Golden Mile and Nagüeles
Momento is in Urbanización Villa Parra Palomeras on the Golden Mile. Bonbonniere is nearby on the Carretera de Istán, but the two do not form a walkable club strip. Cibo is a convenient dinner option before either venue.
Starlite Occident takes place farther uphill at the Cantera de Nagüeles in Sierra Blanca. Concert and Sessions tickets have their own entry conditions, and transport needs more thought than it does for a night around the marina. Treat Starlite as the main event rather than one stop among several.
Central and eastern Marbella
Marbella centre and the Old Town are better for dinner and drinks than for big clubs. If you want to stay out later without leaving the centre, head to the Puerto Deportivo de Marbella. The bars are close together, most play music and several have space for dancing. Some stay open until around 03:00 or 04:00 in the busier months, although this depends on the venue and the night. For a full nightclub or a particular DJ, you will still need transport to Puerto Banús, Río Verde, Momento or Bonbonniere.
East Marbella includes beach areas and venues such as Bono Beach and Sabine Beach. It can be a good base for a beach-focused stay, but it is less convenient for repeated nights in Puerto Banús. A trip from Elviria or Cabopino to the port can take roughly 25–40 minutes in normal traffic and longer on a busy summer evening.
Playa del Cable
Playa Padre is at Playa del Cable, east of central Marbella. It works for a beach day that develops into a DJ-led afternoon or evening, but it is not close to the port or Golden Mile clubs. Allow roughly 10–15 minutes from central Marbella and 25–35 minutes from Puerto Banús in normal traffic.
If the group wants to continue elsewhere, choose the next venue and arrange transport in advance. Ordering several separate taxis as a beach event finishes is an easy way to split the group.
Travelling from San Pedro and Cancelada
San Pedro de Alcántara is usually around 10–15 minutes by road from Puerto Banús. Cancelada is in Estepona rather than Marbella and is normally around 20–30 minutes from the marina in light or normal traffic. Both can be practical places to stay, provided transport is included in the nightlife budget.
Puerto Banús is considerably closer to Cancelada than Playa del Cable or eastern Marbella. A cheaper villa can become less of a saving after several late-night taxi journeys. Large groups should compare the cost of a pre-booked minibus with several taxis and establish whether the driver will wait or return at a fixed time.
Day-to-night beach parties
Playa Padre
Playa Padre is a beach club at Playa del Cable rather than a nightclub. It has beach beds, a terrace, a restaurant and daytime music, with selected dates built around guest DJs and performances. Its Sunday programme is a major part of its party identity, but an ordinary beach day should not be sold to the group as though it were a headline event.
The official reservations page currently lists opening from Thursday to Sunday. Thursday and Sunday are shown as 12:00 to midnight, while Friday and Saturday are listed as 12:00 to 21:00. These hours are seasonal and should be checked again for the chosen date.
The official music page describes a mix of electronic, tribal and acoustic-influenced music and lists current artists. It does not provide a reliable date and start time beside every name, so use the event-specific confirmation rather than the general artist list.
How to book it: First establish whether the group is booking a normal beach day or a special event. A bed, restaurant table, ticket, guest-list place and minimum-spend reservation are different products. Ask for the total cost, what is redeemable against food or drink, the arrival deadline and whether everyone is covered by the same booking.
Who it suits: Playa Padre works well for hens who want a dressed-up beach afternoon with music. It may be less comfortable for a mixed-age group looking for shade, conversation and flexible spending. Large stag groups should send the real number of guests to reservations and obtain written acceptance before paying.
Getting there: Pre-book the return journey if the group is going on to Puerto Banús or the Golden Mile. Confirm the DJ time, last entry, dress rules, group policy, cancellation terms and wet-weather arrangements for the exact event.
La Siesta
La Siesta is a relaxed beach bar and day-to-sunset venue with its own community and event brand. Its official story says it grew from informal beach gatherings in Marbella, and the venue advertises sunbeds throughout the day. It is not a conventional late-night club.
Sunbeds are available, but it is first served.
La Siesta is the more laid-back of the two beach options in this guide. It suits a group that wants music by the beach without building the whole day around a large ticketed event. Confirm the date, DJ time, guest-list deadline, sunbed arrangements, group acceptance, weather plan and cancellation terms.
Major nightclubs
FITZ Marbella
FITZ Marbella is a famous nightclub and live artist/DJ venue at Carretera Nacional 340, kilometre 175, in Río Verde. It is a short drive from Puerto Banús, but not part of the marina itself.
The club plays urban music, electronic music, rap and hip-hop. Different nights can attract very different crowds, so choose the event by artist and music rather than booking the club on name alone.
The club normally opens at midnight and closes at around 06:00, with variations for special events. Ticket holders should follow the entry window shown for their event. Table bookings have their own arrival conditions and may not be held indefinitely.
Tickets are sold through the official calendar, while VIP tables are booked directly. Minimum spends vary by event and by the table's location, so there is no reliable standard price to quote.
FITZ's entry is 21+, valid physical identification is required and the name on the ticket must match the holder's ID. However, the minimum age can vary by event. Check the rule shown during the booking process and ask the club to confirm it if any guest is under 21.
The dress code is smart-casual to elegant. Beachwear, flip-flops, informal shorts and sleeveless tops are not allowed. The club also retains the right to refuse entry for breaches of its dress, capacity or behaviour rules.
Who it suits: FITZ is a good option for a group that has chosen a particular artist and is prepared to book ahead. Large stag parties should obtain direct approval before buying separate tickets. Hen groups should check whether veils, novelty accessories or themed outfits comply with the dress code.
Bonbonniere Marbella
Bonbonniere Marbella is a nightclub on the Carretera de Istán. It plays electronic music, particularly tech house, and the official website links to ticket and VIP-table bookings.
This is a higher-spend, table-focused night rather than an extension of a casual marina bar crawl. There is not one general admission price, age limit, opening time, dress code, minimum spend or group policy that can safely be applied to every event.
Bonbonniere may work for a smaller hen or stag party that likes the chosen DJ and has agreed on the cost of tickets or a table. It is a poor choice for guests who want to decide their spending as the night develops. Large all-male groups should contact the venue with the true number of guests and ask for one recognised booking.
Follow the arrival time shown on the ticket or table confirmation. Before paying, confirm the age and ID rules, dress code, table location, minimum spend, deposit, arrival deadline, group acceptance and cancellation policy.
Momento Marbella
Momento Marbella combines a restaurant, patio and nightclub in Urbanización Villa Parra Palomeras on the Golden Mile. Its official description says the venue moves into club mode around midnight and continues into the early hours. This guide covers the nightlife side only; pre-club restaurant recommendations are limited to Metro Grupo venues.
The official programme lists electronic artists across spring and summer dates, including house and Afro-house. Check the individual event, as the music is not identical every night.
Momento takes booking enquiries and has a private-events route, but the pages checked do not publish one general ticket price, table minimum, age rule, dress code or group policy.
It suits a group that wants to stay in one place as the evening moves from patio drinks into a late club night. Large groups should not rely on walking in. Ask which part of the venue the booking covers and confirm the ticket or guest-list rules, age, ID, dress code, minimum spend, deposit, arrival deadline and cancellation terms.
Momento is on the Golden Mile, but it should not be treated as a safe or convenient walk from most accommodations. Arrange transport and agree where the group will meet if people leave at different times.
Starlite Occident: a concert and after-party, not a normal club night
Starlite Occident is a seasonal open-air festival at the Cantera de Nagüeles in Sierra Blanca. It has a main Auditorium programme and separate Starlite Sessions after-parties. The format is quite different from buying entry to a permanent nightclub.
The calendar changes by date, including the artist, ticket price, seating and Sessions programme. Starlite makes sense when most of the group wants to see the chosen concert. It is not a useful last-minute fallback for a general night out.
The doors generally open at 20:00 from Monday to Saturday and Auditorium concerts normally begin at 22:00, subject to the event. DJ sessions have a separate programme, smaller capacity and start around midnight until 06:00. Sessions-only tickets are sold at date-specific prices, while Auditorium ticket holders can access the Sessions area subject to capacity and the conditions of the night.
Starlite suits a hen or stag party built around a shared interest in an artist. It is less practical when tastes or budgets vary widely. Themed outfits may also feel out of place or fall foul of the rules for a particular concert or VIP area. It has a more Spanish atmosphere with mainly Spanish and Spanish house music.
Check the ticket zone, Sessions access, age conditions, last entry, prohibited items, transport and cancellation policy before booking. Starlite has its own restaurants, but the dinner suggestions in this guide remain limited to Metro Grupo venues.
Puerto Banús nightlife
Puerto Banús has several different types of venues within a relatively small area. Live music, cocktail bars, disco bars and ticketed rooftop events should not be treated as though they offer the same night.
Live music: Joys Live
Joys Live is a live-music and cocktail venue at Calle Muelle Ribera Casa 1. It is not a nightclub.
Opening from 10:00 until 03:00, with music on the terrace from 21:30 and indoors from 23:30. It advertises live performances every night, although the artist and timings should still be checked for the chosen date.
A table is optional. The current reservation condition is a minimum spend of one bottle of spirits or champagne for every four guests. Ask how the venue handles a number that is not divisible by four and whether alcohol-free spending can be accommodated.
Joys works for mixed groups, hens wanting live entertainment and stags who prefer music and drinks to a ticketed club. It can also be the final venue of the night, avoiding another taxi journey after dinner.
Cocktails: Astral Bar
Astral Bar is a galleon-shaped cocktail bar at Levante Pier, near the entrance to Puerto Banús. It serves freshly made cocktails, including alcohol-free options. It is a bar rather than a club.
Astral works best for a first drink or a group that does not want tickets, a dancefloor or a fixed entertainment programme. The official site does not clearly publish current opening hours, reservation conditions or a group limit, so large parties should contact the bar before arriving.
Cocktails are made individually and may take time when the bar is busy. Bear that in mind if the group has a dinner reservation or timed club entry afterwards.
Disco bar: La Habana de Hemingway
La Habana de Hemingway describes itself as a disco cocktail bar and terrace at Edificio Muelle Levante 7. It sits between a normal cocktail bar and a late bar with dancing, but it is not comparable in size or format with FITZ, Momento or Bonbonniere.
It opens daily, with later closing on Friday and Saturday. The form also asks guests to confirm whether they are over 21, but the formal minimum age should be checked for the selected night.
La Habana suits groups that want music and a later finish without leaving the marina. Ask about the night's music, opening hours, table conditions, minimum spend and policy for a large hen or stag party.
Rooftop events: Pangea Marbella
Pangea Marbella is a rooftop nightlife and event venue in Puerto Banús. Its current programme includes date-specific house, Afro-house, hip-hop and R&B events, along with table bookings.
Its marina location is convenient, but rooftop capacity and weather can affect the night. Large groups should use one confirmed booking and check whether every guest is covered by the same ticket, guest list or table, including any last-entry condition.
Nightclub: TIBU
TIBU is a nightclub in Plaza Antonio Banderas, just behind the main Puerto Banús marina. During summer, it runs a busy programme of promoted events, and the music can change considerably from one night to the next.
The current calendar includes hip-hop, R&B, Afrobeats, urban music, French rap and commercial club nights. Many events offer a choice of individual tickets or VIP tables. Age limits, prices, dress codes and entry deadlines depend on the night, so check the full listing before paying.
TIBU suits hen and stag groups that want a full club night without travelling away from Puerto Banús. Large parties, particularly all-male groups, should arrange entry in advance and confirm that everyone will be admitted under the same booking. Check the music, ticket price, table spend, dress code and last-entry time on the current TIBU event calendar.
Nightclub: Funky Buddha
Funky Buddha Puerto Banús is a nightclub on Calle Muelle Ribera, close to the marina bars. The venue’s main page currently lists opening from 01:00 to 06:00 on Thursday and from 01:00 to 07:00 on Friday and Saturday. However, its ticket calendar also shows events on other nights, so follow the times published for the particular event.
Depending on the night, entry may be available through a ticket, guest list or VIP-table booking. Prices and conditions change regularly, and the main website does not give a clear breakdown of the music played at each event.
Funky Buddha is a convenient late-night option after drinks around the marina, particularly for groups that do not want another taxi journey. Large hen and stag parties should still book ahead and confirm the minimum age, music, dress code, last entry, table conditions and group policy. See the current Funky Buddha events and tickets.
Choosing the right night for a hen group
A dressed-up beach afternoon
Choose a confirmed Playa Padre event if the group wants electronic music and a day-to-sunset setting. La Siesta is the more relaxed option when its calendar has a suitable session.
Live entertainment without a club
Joys is the simplest option. It is in the marina and currently advertises live music every night. A reserved table will not suit every group because of the bottle condition, especially when several guests do not drink, so ask about the alternatives.
A main club night
FITZ works when the group likes the listed artist and can meet its ID and dress requirements. Momento or Bonbonniere may suit a smaller party looking for electronic music and a table-led night, but their group and door conditions need to be confirmed directly.
A concert night
Choose Starlite because of the artist, not simply because it is a well-known Marbella venue. It needs to be planned as a ticketed concert evening, with Sessions added only if the group wants to stay afterwards.
Before settling on a club, check novelty accessories, veils and themed outfits. A venue promoted as hen-friendly by a third party can still apply its normal door policy. For a group with different ages or budgets, live music in Puerto Banús is often easier than committing everyone to a table minimum.
Choosing the right night for a stag group
A flexible first night
Start in Puerto Banús with Astral or another confirmed marina bar, then move to Joys or La Habana if the group wants music. This leaves room to change plans and avoids committing everyone to a costly club immediately after travelling.
A music-led club night
FITZ is the clearest option when a particular event suits the group because it publishes detailed ticket, dress and access terms. Contact reservations before buying for a large all-male party and ask whether a table or recognised group booking is required.
A premium table night
Bonbonniere or Momento may work for a smaller, well-dressed stag group that has agreed on the cost and door conditions. Neither should be presented as guaranteed entry. Obtain written confirmation for the full number of men, table area, minimum spend and arrival deadline.
A rooftop event in Puerto Banús
Pangea can work when the current party matches the group's music. Choose by event rather than reputation and confirm admission before booking transport or collecting money.
Premium venues may be cautious about large all-male groups, particularly if guests arrive intoxicated or in costume. Trying to hide the group size by splitting the ticket purchase creates problems with entry, tables and getting everyone home. Be direct with reservations and choose a bar-led night if the club will not confirm acceptance.
Pre-club dinner:
Jack's Smokehouse, Puerto Banús
Jack's Smokehouse is the easiest pre-night-out option for a large, informal group. It is on the marina and serves comfort food such as smoked meats and burgers. Choose Jack's before Joys, Astral, La Habana or Pangea when convenience and a broad menu matter more than a formal dinner. It currently closes at midnight from Sunday to Thursday and at 00:30 on Friday and Saturday, but a group with timed entry elsewhere should book much earlier.
Ask for the current group menu, table arrangement, deposit, payment method and final-number deadline.
Leone Brasserie, Puerto Banús
Leone Brasserie suits a hen or mixed group wanting a more polished dinner on the marina before Joys or a Puerto Banús event. Its menu includes Mediterranean dishes, seafood and grilled meats.
It is likely to cost more than a casual meal at Jack's, and a long dinner can clash with a club's entry deadline. Confirm the group booking, dietary arrangements and the time the party needs to leave.
Cibo, Golden Mile
Cibo is an Italian restaurant on the Golden Mile and a practical dinner choice before Momento, FITZ, Bonbonniere or Starlite. The familiar menu can help when the group has mixed tastes, and the location avoids eating in Puerto Banús before travelling back east or uphill.
It is not within sensible walking distance of the clubs. Arrange onward transport and ask for the latest group-booking and payment conditions.
Nomad, Nueva Andalucía
Nomad suits a group that wants the dinner entertainment to be a substantial part of the night. Its current site publishes live performances every night from May to September and dinner shows on selected nights from October to April. Two official pages disagree over whether Sunday is included in the winter dinner-show schedule, so check the chosen date.
The booking page currently states a €70-per-person minimum spend for reservations from 15 June. Groups of more than eight require a €30-per-person prepaid deposit, refundable with at least 48 hours' notice, and groups of more than 12 are asked to contact the restaurant directly. Reconfirm these terms before collecting payment, particularly for a future season.
Nomad is a higher-commitment dinner and may provide enough entertainment for the full evening. Do not place it immediately before a club unless the group is happy to pay for both and the timings work.
Practical nightlife advice for groups
Tickets and tables
A ticket gives one person entry to a named event under its conditions. It does not usually include seating, a shared group area or unlimited re-entry. A table gives the group a base and normally involves a minimum spend, but it may also come with a deposit and arrival deadline.
Ask whether everyone must enter together and whether individual ticket holders are still subject to the venue's group policy. Do not collect money until the organiser has the full written terms.
Minimum spends and deposits
A minimum spend is often redeemable against drinks rather than being an additional fee. A deposit may be deducted from the final bill, held as security or lost after a late cancellation. Ask the venue to confirm:
The total minimum spend and whether tax or service is added.
What can be ordered against it and whether anything is excluded.
The deposit and whether it is credited to the bill.
The arrival deadline and how long the table will be held.
The cancellation deadline and refund method.
What happens if the number of guests changes.
Whether one person must settle the full balance.
Identification and age rules
Every guest should carry valid physical identification. FITZ's terms currently list a DNI, passport or driving licence and say the ticket name must match the ID. Other venues may use different rules. A photograph of a passport may not be accepted.
Dress codes and door discretion
“Smart” is not interpreted in exactly the same way everywhere. FITZ specifically prohibits beachwear, flip-flops, informal shorts and sleeveless tops. Ask other clubs for their current rules. Football shirts, matching stag T-shirts, fancy dress and large hen accessories can all cause problems.
A ticket or table does not override behaviour, capacity or safety conditions. Anyone who is heavily intoxicated, aggressive or incorrectly dressed may still be refused entry.
Large-group bookings
Send one message containing the date, total number of guests, number of men and women, preferred booking type and accommodation area. Ask the venue to confirm that everyone will be admitted under the same booking. This is particularly important for large all-male parties.
If using a promoter, check with the venue that the person or company is authorised. Keep the reservation, ticket names, receipts and venue contact details on at least two phones.
Taxis and the journey home
Book the outward journey and make a separate plan for getting home. At the end of a major event, taxis may use a designated pickup point and waits can be long. Never ask a driver to carry more passengers than the vehicle permits.
Share the accommodation pin rather than only its name, especially in Nueva Andalucía and Cancelada. Decide how early departures will be handled so that nobody is left to travel alone without the rest of the group knowing.
Seasonal calendars
Marbella nightlife changes by season and event. Check the venue's website or linked official ticket platform shortly before travelling. An old social post, concierge page or travel blog may show a party that has ended or door conditions that no longer apply.
Three sample nights
A relaxed Puerto Banús night
20:00: Dinner at Jack's Smokehouse for an informal meal or Leone for a more polished one.
22:00: Cocktails at Astral, subject to current opening and space.
23:00: Move to Joys for live music after checking the artist and table conditions.
Later: Stay around the marina instead of adding an unnecessary cross-town journey.
A beach-party day and night
Afternoon: Book the correct Playa Padre or La Siesta event rather than assuming a normal beach reservation includes the party.
Early evening: Confirm the DJ time and any guest-list deadline.
After the event: Use pre-arranged transport so the group leaves together.
Late option: Continue to a club only if there is enough time to change and meet its entry conditions.
A major club night
20:30: Dinner at Cibo on the Golden Mile, or at Nomad if its entertainment is part of the plan.
23:00: Return to the accommodation to change, unless everyone is already dressed for the club.
From midnight: Enter FITZ, Momento or Bonbonniere at the time stated on the ticket or table booking.
