The best hen activity depends on more than the weather. Before booking, consider the group's size, budget, fitness and willingness to travel. A yacht leaves from Puerto Banús, yoga and several watersports take place east of Marbella, while spa and dance options are closer to the Golden Mile. Trying to combine activities in opposite directions can turn a relaxed day into a series of taxi journeys.
For a three-day hen weekend, one main activity on the second day is normally enough. Add a shorter class, brunch or spa session on the arrival or departure day if it is close to the accommodation.
Prices and operating details below were taken from current provider websites on the date shown. They can change. Confirm the final price, availability, group limit, deposit and cancellation terms directly before paying.
Quick hen-activity chooser
For a relaxed group: A spa session, yoga by the sea or a reserved beach-bed day.
For a lively group: A private yacht, dance class or group watersports.
For a mixed-age hen party: A private boat, cocktail class, brunch or beach day, subject to accessibility needs.
For non-drinkers: Spa, yoga, dance, paddleboarding and watersports do not need to revolve around alcohol.
For a higher budget: A private yacht or a longer spa session.
For a tighter budget: A one-hour dance class, paddleboard hire or a self-paced beach day can be easier to control, but obtain the complete cost first.
Outside summer: Dance classes, cocktail classes, spa sessions and dinner entertainment are less dependent on beach weather.
For rain: Choose a spa, indoor dance class, suitable mobile cocktail class, escape room or virtual-reality session.
1. Private yacht or catamaran from Puerto Banús
A private charter gives the hen group its own boat and crew rather than places on a shared party cruise. It suits groups that want time to talk, swim, play agreed music and enjoy the coast without spending the afternoon in a crowded venue.
Epic Yacht Marbella is the only boat provider recommended in this guide. Its current fleet includes motor yachts and catamarans departing from Puerto Banús. Most of the listed boats accommodate between nine and 12 guests, so larger groups must ask Epic for an appropriate licensed arrangement.
Two current examples are:
The Fairline Targa 43 takes up to 11 guests. Published prices are €700 for two hours, €1,100 for four hours and €1,800 for eight hours, plus 21% VAT. Epic lists the crew, fuel while travelling at nine knots, water, soft drinks, beer, white wine, cava and a light snack as included. Snorkelling equipment, a paddleboard and one Seabob are also listed.
The Lagoon 450 catamaran takes up to 12 guests. From May to September, published prices are €750 for two hours, €1,075 for four hours, €1,570 for six hours and €1,990 for eight hours, plus 21% VAT. Lower October-to-April prices are also published. Epic lists the crew, fuel at nine knots, drinks, a light snack, snorkelling equipment, a paddleboard and a kayak.
The catamaran is the more obvious choice when deck space and stability matter. A motor yacht may work better for a smaller group wanting a shorter trip. Neither option suits everyone: ask about boarding if anyone has limited mobility and consider seasickness before committing the whole group.
Allow: Two to eight hours, depending on the charter, plus boarding time.
Location and transport: Puerto Banús. Groups staying in the port may be able to walk to the berth. From elsewhere, arrange taxis or a minibus and allow time to find the exact meeting point.
Before booking: Confirm the vessel, licensed guest limit, berth, arrival time, VAT-inclusive total, deposit, permitted food and alcohol, music rules, toilet and cabin access, accessibility, swimming stops, weather decision process and cancellation terms. Availability and final conditions must be confirmed directly with Epic.
Short pairing: Jack's Smokehouse is particularly practical for a group meal before or after a Puerto Banús charter because of its informal setting, broad menu and marina location. A large group should reserve rather than arrive without warning.
2. Spa or wellness session
A spa works well for a smaller hen party, a mixed-age group or the final morning of the weekend. It gives people time to recover without requiring everyone to drink or take part in a strenuous activity.
Six Senses Spa at Puente Romano currently publishes wet-zone access for non-residents at €90 for one hour or €180 for four hours, subject to availability. Listed facilities include a hydrotherapy pool, cold plunge pool, experience showers, steam room, sauna and hammam. Treatments cost extra unless the chosen package explicitly includes them.
The main limitation is capacity. A spa may not be able to accommodate a large hen party in the wet area or offer the same treatment to everybody at once. The published non-resident rates also place this among the more expensive options.
Allow: At least 90 minutes for a one-hour pass once arrival and changing are included; half a day for the four-hour option.
Location and transport: Puente Romano on the Golden Mile. It is a short taxi journey from Marbella centre or Puerto Banús but not normally walkable from most group accommodation.
Before booking: Confirm non-resident access, group capacity, treatment times, changing facilities, pregnancy or medical restrictions, swimwear rules, arrival time, deposit and cancellation terms.
3. Private cocktail-making class
A private cocktail class is sociable without being physically demanding. A mobile provider can run it at suitable accommodation, avoiding another group transfer, although the property must permit outside suppliers and organised events.
Afterglow Bar & Events advertises cocktail classes across Marbella and the Costa del Sol. Its current description includes a welcome highball, a guided base-spirit tasting and the preparation of three cocktails with a professional mixologist.
The provider does not publish a standard group price, duration, minimum number or travel charge on the activity page. Do not assume a price from an old hen package. This is also a poor choice if several guests do not drink unless a proper alcohol-free version is agreed in advance.
Allow: Use the duration supplied in the written quotation rather than assuming a two-hour class.
Location and transport: Usually at the group's accommodation or another agreed venue. Check access, parking, kitchen or water requirements and property rules.
Before booking: Request a complete quote covering the group size, duration, travel charge, drinks included, alcohol-free options, glassware, setup, clearing, deposit and cancellation policy.
4. Salsa, Latin or flamenco dance class
A dance class works for a hen party willing to join in rather than sit and watch. It can be adapted for beginners and gives the group a shared activity without taking most of the day.
ARTEM Dance Studio offers salsa and other Latin styles at an air-conditioned studio on Marbella's Golden Mile. Its website currently lists a normal group class at €20, but that is not a private hen booking. Ask for a separate private quote, available styles, session length and capacity.
Hen Party Night also advertises a private 60-minute flamenco or salsa class in Marbella with an instructor, music and venue. Its price varies by city and season and is supplied on request.
The class may not suit guests with mobility problems, recent injuries or no interest in dancing. Avoid arranging a demanding class immediately after a long journey or before an activity that requires everybody to stay dry and well presented.
Allow: Around one hour for the class, plus arrival and changing time.
Before booking: Confirm whether the venue is private, its exact address, the dance style, capacity, instructor language, footwear, accessibility, total price, deposit and cancellation policy.
5. Yoga by the sea
Yoga is a calm morning option for a group that wants some structure without turning the weekend into a fitness break. It can work before a beach lunch, provided the class time and food booking are coordinated.
Sabine Beach's Yoga by the Sea page invites guests to book a morning session facing the sea. The page does not currently publish a regular day, time, price, duration or group limit. These details must be requested rather than copied from an old event poster.
Location and transport: Playa Real de Zaragoza in east Marbella. It is not within walking distance of Puerto Banús, Nueva Andalucía, San Pedro or Cancelada.
Before booking: Ask whether the session is public or private, which dates are running, whether mats are supplied, the price, minimum and maximum number, instructor language, wet-weather arrangement and whether food is included. A current Metro Grupo Pilates session was not found, so request one separately if preferred.
6. Paddleboarding, kayaking and group watersports
Paddleboarding and kayaking suit hens who want to spend time on the water without committing to a high-speed activity. Towable rides such as the banana boat, Crazy Sofa or donut are shorter and livelier. These work best as part of a beach day because a ten-minute ride alone will not fill an afternoon.
Marbella JetSki at Playa de las Dunas currently publishes these VAT-inclusive prices:
Stand-up paddleboarding: €25 for one hour.
Double kayak: €30 for one hour for two people.
Banana boat: €25 per person for 15 minutes, listed for two to eight participants.
Crazy Sofa, Crazy Bull, Air Stream and donut ride: €25 per person, normally ten minutes, with published limits of two to six participants.
Jet-ski circuit: €70 for 20 minutes or €90 for 30 minutes per jet ski. Each machine can take two people, and drivers can swap during the session.
The operator says no licence is required for its supervised standard jet-ski activities. Riders must be at least 18, or 16 with signed parental consent. Its main operating season is May to October, with possible off-season activity on suitable days.
Who it may not suit: Non-swimmers, anyone with relevant back, neck or joint problems, guests uncomfortable in open water or groups unwilling to travel to east Marbella.
Before booking: Confirm swimming ability, age and medical restrictions, the number of boards, kayaks or jet skis available at once, changing and storage facilities, identification, weather policy and whether the group can participate together. Use Epic Yacht Marbella for all boat charters; this provider is included only for individual watersports.
7. Reserved beach-bed day
A beach-bed day is deliberately less structured. Guests can swim, eat, talk or rest rather than being forced through the same timetable. It is a good option for mixed ages, but it will disappoint a group expecting a guaranteed pool party or DJ programme that has not been confirmed.
Metro Grupo options include:
Sabine Beach at Playa Real de Zaragoza, which takes beach-bed and group enquiries and recommends advance booking for Bali beds and groups.
Bono Beach at Playa Arenal near Elviria, which takes prepaid bed bookings. Its current FAQ describes date changes or vouchers for weather-affected bookings, but the terms should be checked for the chosen date.
Current bed prices are shown through booking systems or images rather than as stable published text, so request a dated quote. Check whether a payment is bed hire, minimum spend or a combination of the two.
Allow: Half a day or longer.
Location and transport: Both venues are east of Marbella. From Puerto Banús, Nueva Andalucía, San Pedro or Cancelada, arrange return transport rather than expecting the group to find several taxis at the same time.
Before booking: Confirm bed type, guests per bed, arrival deadline, food-and-drink conditions, event schedule, towels, shade, deposit and weather policy. Do not state that live music or a DJ is available every day unless the chosen date appears on the current calendar.
8. Brunch in Puerto Banús
Brunch works well on the final morning, particularly if the group does not want another excursion. It is easy to fit around checkout, but a bottomless package will not suit every guest or anyone driving afterwards.
Leone Brasserie's current bottomless brunch is served from 10:00 until 12:30. Published options are €40 with selected unlimited drinks or €55 with Moët & Chandon and selected drinks, both including food. Drinks run for 90 minutes. Leone states that groups of ten or more have a 10% service charge and that a card is required against a no-show after confirmation.
Ask about a standard breakfast or non-alcoholic arrangement if the whole group does not want the package.
Before booking: Confirm the current menu, dietary alternatives, start time, group seating, payment or cancellation conditions and whether every guest must take the same package.
9. Dinner show at Nomad
Nomad combines dinner with rotating entertainment from musicians, singers, dancers and DJs. It suits a hen group that wants one evening booking rather than moving between a meal and a separate show.
Nomad's entertainment page currently says live performances run nightly from May to September. Its winter information refers to selected show nights, but two pages on the official website disagree over whether Sunday is included. Check the actual date against the live calendar.
Nomad's booking page currently states that reservations from 15 June carry a €70-per-person minimum spend. Groups of more than eight require a €30-per-person prepaid deposit, refundable with at least 48 hours' notice; groups above 12 are asked to contact the restaurant directly. Reconfirm these terms for the chosen season.
Location: Avenida del Prado in Nueva Andalucía.
Who it may not suit: A low-budget group, anyone wanting a quiet meal or guests who assume the show is identical every evening.
Before booking: Confirm the performance, table location, minimum spend, deposit, dietary requirements, group-size conditions, arrival time and cancellation policy.
10. Live music at Joys
Joys Live is a late-evening activity in Puerto Banús rather than a daytime plan. Its current official website lists music on the terrace from 21:30, inside from 23:30 and performances every night. It also states that a reserved table has a minimum spend of one bottle of spirits or champagne per four guests.
Schedules can change, so check the chosen night even though the current site describes the programme as nightly. This works for groups that want live entertainment and a fixed meeting place, but not for anyone seeking a private show or a quiet evening.
Before booking: Confirm the live programme, performance times, table position, current minimum spend, entry arrangements and any group restrictions.
Wet-weather alternatives for a hen party
Rain may stop a boat, watersports, beach yoga or a beach-bed booking. Ask about the weather policy before paying and keep one realistic backup rather than trying to reorganise the whole weekend on the morning.
Useful alternatives include:
Spa access: Six Senses publishes non-resident wet-zone access, subject to group capacity.
Indoor dance class: Confirm that the studio and private instructor are available for the whole group.
Mobile cocktail class: Suitable only if the accommodation allows the supplier and has enough covered space.
Escape room: Arkham Escape Rooms in central Marbella advertises rooms of roughly 90 and 105 minutes for two to six players. A large group needs parallel rooms or another confirmed format.
Virtual reality: Holo VR Zone near Puerto Banús advertises indoor VR games and group events, but does not clearly publish an adult group price or capacity.
Dinner entertainment: Nomad may work as an evening replacement if its current programme and indoor seating are confirmed.
A forecast of rain does not always allow the customer to cancel. The provider's written policy determines whether the booking is refunded, moved or credited.
Planning activities and transport
Approximate driving times
These are normal-traffic estimates rather than guaranteed transfer times. Summer weekends and late-afternoon traffic can add substantially to each journey.
| Activity area | Marbella centre | Puerto Banús | Nueva Andalucía | San Pedro | Cancelada |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Puerto Banús | 15-25 min | Walk or short taxi | 5-15 min | 10-15 min | 20-30 min |
| Golden Mile/Nagüeles | 10-15 min | 10-15 min | 10-15 min | 15-25 min | 25-35 min |
| East Marbella beaches | 10-20 min | 25-35 min | 25-40 min | 35-45 min | 45-60 min |
| Nueva Andalucía | 15-25 min | 5-15 min | Local | 10-20 min | 20-30 min |
Check the provider's exact meeting pin. For a group of ten or more, compare a pre-booked minibus with several taxis. Confirm whether the vehicle waits or requires a separate return booking.
Clothing, health and identification
Bring swimwear, sunscreen, a towel and dry clothes for boats and watersports.
Wear secure footwear for dance classes and follow the studio's advice.
Tell yoga, spa, boat and watersport providers about pregnancy, mobility needs, injuries or medical conditions before paying.
Bring the identification requested for jet skis and other supervised watersports.
Check whether the boat, spa, studio and beach facilities are accessible for the particular guest, rather than assuming general accessibility.
How far ahead to book
There is no universal lead time. For Friday and Saturday sessions from May to September, start enquiries several weeks ahead, especially for a particular Epic yacht, a private instructor, multiple spa appointments or a large group table.
Before paying, establish the minimum and maximum number, the deadline for changing numbers, deposit and final-payment dates, and whether one cancellation changes the price for everybody.
Hen-activity booking checklist
Confirm the provider, activity, date, start time and exact meeting point.
Give the real group size and flag pregnancy, mobility, medical or dietary needs.
Request the total price in writing, including VAT, equipment, travel and optional extras.
Check the confirmed minimum and maximum group size.
Ask what clothing, footwear, swimwear or identification is required.
Check whether alcohol-free alternatives are properly included.
Read the deposit, cancellation, no-show and weather terms.
Ask what happens if the final number falls.
Arrange return transport, not just the outward journey.
Reconfirm the booking and weather position shortly before travelling.
