Marbella suits stag groups that want warm weather, daytime activities, good restaurants and a lively night out. Puerto Banús has the best-known bars and clubs, while golf, boats, karting, canyoning and off-road tours fill the hours before dinner.
It also works for groups with different interests. Some can play golf while others head to the beach or watch sport, then everyone can meet later.
It is not the cheapest destination on the Costa del Sol, particularly in summer. The nightlife is smart and busy rather than cheap and chaotic, and larger groups cannot assume they will get into every venue. Benalmádena may suit a tighter budget; Ibiza has a bigger late-night club scene.
Where to stay: a quick guide
| What matters most | Area | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Bars and late venues nearby | Puerto Banús | The easiest nightlife base, but the most expensive. Dress codes and door policies apply. |
| Lower accommodation costs | San Pedro de Alcántara | Often better value, although taxis will add to the total. |
| A villa or apartment at a lower rate | Cancelada, Estepona | Worth comparing with Marbella, but it is outside the municipality and requires planned transport. |
| Restaurants and a choice of bars | Central Marbella | Better for a mixed weekend, but Puerto Banús is a taxi ride away. |
| Villas and golf | Nueva Andalucía or the Golden Mile | More space and access to golf courses, but little is fully walkable. |
| Beaches and quieter evenings | Cabopino or east Marbella | Better for daytime plans than Puerto Banús nightlife. |
The best areas to stay for a Marbella stag do
Puerto Banús
Stay in Puerto Banús if the group expects to spend both evenings around the marina. Restaurants, bars, live music and late venues are close together, and many private boats leave from the port.
Accommodation, food and drinks cost more here, especially in summer. Check the address before booking because some properties advertised as Puerto Banús are not within walking distance of the marina.
Large groups should book ahead, check dress codes and avoid arriving at a venue already drunk.
Best for: short trips centred on nightlife.
San Pedro de Alcántara
San Pedro has its own restaurants, bars and seafront, with a more local feel than Puerto Banús. Accommodation is often cheaper than around the marina.
You will still need taxis or a booked vehicle for most activities, boat trips and nights out. Add those journeys when comparing accommodation costs.
Best for: groups watching the budget and anyone staying more than two nights.
Cancelada, Estepona
Cancelada is west of Marbella in the municipality of Estepona. It has villas, townhouses and flats with communal pools that can cost less than comparable options in Nueva Andalucía or central Marbella.
Treat that as a possible saving, not a fixed half-price promise. Compare live totals for the same dates and add the cost of airport, activity and late-night transport. The group will normally need taxis or a pre-booked vehicle for Puerto Banús and Marbella.
Best for: groups prioritising space, a pool and accommodation value over walking access to nightlife.
Central Marbella
Central Marbella has plenty of places to eat and drink without committing both nights to Puerto Banús. The seafront and town centre are walkable; the Old Town is better for dinner and a few drinks than a loud bar crawl.
Apartments in the historic centre can have strict rules on noise and visitors. Check that the property accepts stag groups before paying.
Best for: groups planning one night in Marbella and one in Puerto Banús.
Nueva Andalucía and the Golden Mile
Nueva Andalucía sits behind Puerto Banús, close to several golf courses and villa developments. The Golden Mile runs between Puerto Banús and central Marbella. Both areas offer larger properties and more space than a central apartment.
They are less walkable than they appear on a map. Check the distance by road, as well as rules on noise, guests and deposits.
Best for: villa weekends and golf groups with transport arranged.
Cabopino and east Marbella
East Marbella has beaches, Cabopino marina and access to several golf courses. It suits groups spending more time on the water, at the golf course or around the accommodation than in bars.
Puerto Banús is on the opposite side of Marbella, making repeated trips expensive and inconvenient.
Best for: daytime activities and one planned night out.
Seven activities to consider
One main activity on each full day is enough. Some mountain and off-road activities take place outside Marbella, so check the meeting point and whether transport is included.
Quad biking or an off-road buggy tour: An active group option outside the town centre. Check driving-licence rules, deposits and transfers before booking.
Karting: Competitive and suitable for different fitness levels. Compare actual track time, not just the advertised session length.
Canyoning: A more demanding day involving scrambling, water and, depending on the route, abseiling or jumps. Check fitness requirements, footwear and travel time.
Golf: Book a full round for regular players or a shorter format if only part of the group plays. Arrange clubs and transport in advance.
Private boat: Charters from Puerto Banús usually run for a few hours. Check what the price includes and the boat's licensed passenger limit.
Padel: Easy to run as a small tournament and less time-consuming than golf. It also works for groups with mixed ability.
Paintball: Fuerte de Nagüeles in Marbella currently advertises adult sessions from €20 per person for a minimum of 12, including equipment, insurance and 100 paintballs. The published game time is about 60-75 minutes, with extra paintballs charged separately. It suits a competitive group that is happy with an outdoor activity; confirm availability, clothing, transfers and the wet-weather policy before paying.

Four restaurant options for food and drinks
Jacks Smokehouse, Mumtaz, Nomad and Joys Live are operated by Metro Grupo, the team behind this guide. They cover different parts of the evening and are described with their practical limitations rather than as an all-purpose shortlist.
Jacks Smokehouse, Puerto Banús
Jacks is the strongest all-round choice for a sizeable stag group. Its broad menu covers burgers, ribs, pizzas, salads and steaks, while the Puerto Banús location makes it easy to continue to the marina bars. The official Metro Grupo listing says the renovated upper level can hold up to 160 people, but the group still needs the exact seated layout, menu, deposit and final-number policy confirmed for its date.
Mumtaz, Puerto Banús
Mumtaz is an Indian restaurant overlooking the marina and has been open for more than 30 years. Sharing dishes makes it straightforward for a group, and everyone can choose their preferred level of spice.
The restaurant currently accepts no reservations in July or August. For a large stag group visiting in either month, choose somewhere that will confirm the table in advance.
Nomad, Nueva Andalucía
Nomad is a higher-spend option for a group making dinner the main event. Its official site currently advertises live dinner shows from Thursday to Sunday in winter and live performances every night in summer. It is not the right choice for a quick, low-cost meal: groups of more than eight require a prepaid deposit, and summer bookings can carry a minimum spend.
Joys Live, Puerto Banús
Joys is a live music bar on the marina front. It suits groups that prefer singers and musicians to a full night in a club. Check the current schedule and table terms before travelling, particularly for a large group.
Read our Marbella stag restaurant guide for the full Metro Grupo shortlist, group menus and booking policies. If watching a specific match is essential, ask the chosen venue to confirm the fixture, screen and sound in writing; the current restaurant pages do not guarantee every broadcast.
Marbella nightlife
Puerto Banús is not an unrestricted bar crawl. A large stag group may be asked to book, split into smaller parties or agree to a minimum spend, and entry is always at the venue's discretion. Smart-casual clothing and arriving sober enough to speak to the door staff will help.
Book dinner first, choose one or two bars and decide on the late venue before the trip. See our Marbella stag nightlife guide for an area-by-area plan.
Boat trips from Puerto Banús
Our boat recommendations now use Epic Yacht Marbella. Its Puerto Banús fleet includes motor yachts and catamarans, normally booked for two, four, six or eight hours depending on the vessel. Crew, fuel at the stated speed, drinks, snacks and water equipment vary by boat, and published prices may exclude 21% VAT.
Before paying, confirm the licensed passenger limit, weather policy, alcohol rules, final payment date and what happens if numbers change. Availability, final prices, deposits and cancellation terms must be confirmed directly with Epic Yacht Marbella. Compare three current options in our Marbella stag boat guide.
A three-day Marbella stag weekend
Day one: Arrive, check in and go to a straightforward booked dinner at Jacks Smokehouse. Stay in central Marbella for a quieter first night or head to Joys Live in Puerto Banús for live music.
Day two: Choose one main activity, such as paintball, karting, canyoning, golf or an Epic Yacht Marbella charter. Allow enough time to return, shower and eat before the main night out. Choose Mumtaz for a marina curry outside its no-reservations period, or Nomad when the group wants dinner and a show.
Day three: Keep the morning flexible with breakfast or brunch near the accommodation. Use the pool, watch sport where the fixture has been confirmed or play a short padel session before a final casual meal and the airport transfer.

How much does a Marbella stag do cost?
Allow around €450-€850 per person for two nights, excluding flights. This assumes shared accommodation, group transport, one main activity, two dinners and nights out.
Lower-cost trip: about €350-€500 per person. Stay in San Pedro or share a large apartment, choose a shorter activity and make one night the main spend.
Mid-range trip: about €500-€850 per person. Stay centrally or share a villa, book airport transport and one main activity, and allow for two dinners and a night in Puerto Banús.
Higher-end trip: €900 or more per person. Stay in a premium villa or Puerto Banús hotel, play golf or hire a private boat, and add table bookings and taxis.
These are planning estimates, not package prices. July and August accommodation, single rooms, premium tee times and late bookings can raise the total. Use our Costa del Sol stag party cost guide before collecting payments.
Six things to arrange before the trip
Confirm the headcount. Villa, boat and activity prices may change when someone drops out.
Check the exact location. Marbella covers a long stretch of coast, so the place name alone tells you very little about travel time.
Read the activity restrictions. Licences, weight limits, footwear, alcohol rules and medical conditions may affect who can take part.
Tell restaurants it is a stag booking. Give the real group size and ask about deposits, menus and dress codes.
Book essential transport. Airport transfers and journeys to rural activities are difficult to improvise for a large group.
Collect deposits early. The organiser should not have to cover the group and chase payment during the trip.
