Planning a hen or stag weekend abroad creates dozens of small questions. Where should you stay? How many activities should you book? Will a nightclub accept a large all-male group? What happens if the boat is cancelled? And how do you stop one organiser paying for everybody?
This guide brings the practical answers together in one place. It covers Marbella, Puerto Banús, Mijas Costa and Benalmádena, with links to the more detailed guides when a subject needs more than a short answer.
There is no universal rule for group deposits, minimum spends, dress codes or cancellation terms. Where a supplier’s policy matters, obtain it in writing for your actual date, group size and booking before collecting money.

Choosing a destination and area
Is the Costa del Sol good for a hen or stag weekend?
Yes, particularly for a group that wants warm weather, beaches, restaurants and a choice of activities without making the entire weekend about one nightclub. The coast also gives organisers several bases with different price levels and atmospheres.
It is less suitable if the group wants the cheapest possible drinking weekend or a destination built around large superclubs. Start with the Costa del Sol destination guides before choosing accommodation.
Which Costa del Sol destination should we choose?
Choose according to the weekend you will actually book:
Marbella offers the broadest mix of restaurants, golf, outdoor activities, beach venues and nightlife.
Puerto Banús works well for boats, marina restaurants, bars and late clubs within a compact area.
Mijas Costa suits villa-led groups, golf, local activities and a day at Max Beach, but usually requires more road transport.
Benalmádena is normally easier for a tighter budget and keeps many beaches, activities, restaurants and bars close to Puerto Marina.
What is the difference between Marbella and Puerto Banús?
Puerto Banús is one part of the wider Marbella area, not a separate coastal resort. It is centred on the marina and is convenient for yacht departures, waterfront restaurants, bars and some late-night clubs. Marbella centre has the Old Town, a different restaurant scene and easier access to eastern Marbella.
The journey between them is short by road in normal traffic, but they are not sensibly walkable. Read the Marbella guides and Puerto Banús guides before deciding where to sleep.
Should we stay in Puerto Banús or Marbella centre?
Stay in Puerto Banús if the plan revolves around a yacht, marina meals and Banús nightlife. Stay near central Marbella if the group values the Old Town, central beaches and a less marina-led evening.
Puerto Banús is normally more expensive and can be noisy. Marbella centre still requires taxis for Puerto Banús clubs and yacht departures. Compare exact addresses, not just the destination named in the accommodation listing.
Is Nueva Andalucía within walking distance of Puerto Banús?
Sometimes, but not automatically. Nueva Andalucía covers a large area, and routes that look short on a map may involve hills, busy roads or the A-7. A property close to the marina may be manageable; one near Aloha or farther inland may need taxis for every booking.
Ask for the exact map pin before paying. Test the walking route rather than relying on “near Puerto Banús” in the property description.
Are San Pedro de Alcántara and Cancelada good lower-cost bases?
They can be. San Pedro is close enough for regular road journeys into Puerto Banús, while Cancelada can offer more space or better-value villas farther west. Neither is a practical late-night walk from the marina.
Price the airport transfer and every return journey before deciding that the accommodation is cheaper overall. A large group needing several vehicles can quickly lose the saving.
Is Mijas Costa a good base for a hen or stag weekend?
Yes, when the group wants a villa, golf, local restaurants, Max Beach or outdoor activities and accepts that the area is spread out. Riviera del Sol, Calahonda, La Cala de Mijas and the inland resorts are not one walkable centre.
It is less convenient for a weekend spent mainly in Puerto Banús. Use the Mijas Costa hen and stag guide and Mijas Costa activities guide to build a genuinely local itinerary.
Is Benalmádena a cheaper alternative to Marbella?
Often, yes. Accommodation, casual group meals and bar-led nights around Puerto Marina can be easier to control on a modest budget. The marina also keeps several restaurants, beaches and activities within walking distance.
It is not a low-cost guarantee: peak dates, private boats and several paid activities will still increase the total. See the Benalmádena and Puerto Marina guide for the local options.
Which destination is easiest without taxis?
Puerto Banús can work when the accommodation is genuinely beside the marina and the weekend centres on local boats, restaurants and bars. Puerto Marina in Benalmádena is also compact enough for a beach-and-marina itinerary.
Most villas in Nueva Andalucía, San Pedro, Cancelada and Mijas Costa need transport. Even a walkable base will not eliminate airport transfers or journeys to outlying activities.
Is Marbella better than Ibiza or Mykonos?
Not in every category. Ibiza is the strongest choice when a specific club programme or DJ is the main reason to travel. Mykonos suits smaller, higher-budget groups prioritising distinctive scenery, beaches and stylish dining. Marbella is the most flexible compromise for mixed interests, group sizes and budgets.
Compare equivalent dates and plans in Marbella vs Ibiza vs Mykonos, rather than declaring a winner from reputation alone.
Which destination is best for mixed ages or non-drinkers?
Marbella is usually the easiest because a weekend can be built around a boat, food, golf, wellness, beaches or active pursuits without requiring everybody to attend a nightclub. Benalmádena can also work well when the group wants a compact and informal marina base.
Make the daytime plan worthwhile in its own right. Non-drinkers should not be treated as drivers or spectators.
Dates, seasons and length of stay
What is the best time of year for a Marbella hen or stag weekend?
May, June and September are the strongest all-round choices for many groups. They normally provide warm conditions without the most intense summer heat, although no weekend comes with guaranteed beach weather.
July and August have the busiest seasonal programmes but also greater heat, traffic, demand and cost. Read the month-by-month Marbella guide before setting the date.
Is April warm enough?
It can be pleasant for golf, walking, padel, restaurants and sightseeing, but it is not dependable pool or beach weather. Evenings, seawater and unheated pools may feel cool, and rain is possible.
If the accommodation pool is central to the plan, ask whether it is heated and operational. Keep an indoor alternative for any outdoor Saturday booking.
Is October suitable?
Yes, for a flexible group. October can suit golf, restaurants, padel, paintball, wellness and mixed itineraries. It is less reliable for a weekend built entirely around beach clubs, outdoor pools, boats or seasonal events.
Check each venue’s calendar and operating dates before booking flights.
Is August too hot for activities?
It may be for some guests. Put golf, hiking, paintball and other physical plans early in the day, provide water and allow recovery time. Protective clothing and midday sun can make an otherwise manageable activity uncomfortable.
Ask the provider about its heat procedures and be honest about the group’s fitness. Anyone sensitive to heat may prefer June or September.
Are Marbella clubs and beach venues open all year?
No single rule applies. Some restaurants, bars and nightclubs operate beyond summer, while festivals, pool clubs, beach venues and event brands may be seasonal or date-led.
Check the official calendar for the exact day. An old social-media post or last summer’s opening hours is not reliable evidence.
How many nights should we stay?
Two nights is enough for one main activity and two evenings if the flights are convenient. Three nights gives more recovery time and makes it easier to include golf, a boat or a second area without rushing.
For a Friday-to-Sunday trip, treat Saturday as the one full day. See the separate three-day hen itinerary and three-day stag itinerary.
Does a three-day itinerary mean three nights?
Not necessarily. On this site, a three-day weekend normally means three calendar days and two nights: arrival on Friday, a full Saturday and departure on Sunday. Flight times decide how useful the first and last days really are.
If the party books three nights, use the extra day for recovery or a second area rather than adding another fixed booking automatically.
How far in advance should we book?
For a large group travelling in summer, nine to 12 months gives more choice of suitable accommodation and flights. The main Saturday activity, large restaurant table and headline nightlife event should follow once the paid headcount is clear.
A smaller off-season party may need less notice. Supplier deadlines vary, so obtain the actual payment and cancellation schedule before committing.
Should we avoid school holidays and bank holidays?
They can increase flight, accommodation and local demand, particularly in July and August. However, a major event or limited flight schedule can make another weekend equally expensive.
Compare live prices for the complete trip before changing dates. Do not choose a cheap flight if it forces an extra night, expensive transfer or unsuitable arrival time.
Do we need a wet-weather plan?
Yes if the weekend depends on a boat, pool club, beach venue, rooftop or outdoor activity. Identify one realistic indoor or weather-resistant option that can take the whole group.
Do not reserve two non-refundable activities for the same time. First understand who decides whether the original activity is unsafe and whether the remedy is a refund, new date, credit or nothing.
Budgeting and group payments
How much does a Costa del Sol hen or stag weekend cost?
There is no responsible single figure without dates, flights, group size and a plan. Marbella and Puerto Banús can move quickly from mid-range to expensive when a private yacht, premium pool bed, club table or underfilled villa is added. Benalmádena and parts of Mijas Costa usually provide more ways to control spending.
Build the total category by category using the Costa del Sol cost guide. Only give guests a final figure after obtaining live quotes.
What are the costs people most often forget?
Common omissions include airport transfers, taxis from an outlying villa, luggage supplements, security deposits, service charges, activity transport, club entry, table minimum spends, food and drink not included in a boat charter, and the final day after checkout.
Also keep a small contingency for price changes or a fixed cost being divided between fewer people.
How can we keep the weekend affordable without making it dull?
Choose one main paid activity, one main night and accommodation in the right place. Use beaches, a shared villa breakfast or a walkable marina day between them. A lower nightly rate is not a saving if the group then needs several taxis for every meal.
Avoid making premium bookings simply because they appear in a standard hen or stag itinerary.
How much should the first group payment be?
Collect enough to cover the commitments you are about to make. There is no standard percentage because the accommodation, activity and restaurant may all use different terms.
Tell guests exactly what the payment covers, the date it becomes non-refundable and what happens if the group size changes. Do not leave one organiser funding deposits on promises.
Should one organiser pay for everything?
No. One person can control the booking, but the group should pay into an agreed pot before non-refundable commitments are made. Keep a simple record of money received, payments sent and balances due.
For flights, choosing one or two agreed services and setting a short booking deadline can be safer than asking the organiser to fund every seat.
Should the hen or stag pay for their own place?
That is a group decision, not a rule. If the group intends to cover the guest of honour, calculate that contribution before people agree to the budget. The cost should not appear as a surprise in the final balance.
Be equally clear about whether the contribution covers flights, accommodation, activities or only selected bookings.
What happens when somebody drops out?
Check every reservation separately. That guest may lose a deposit, while fixed costs such as a villa or minibus may have to be divided among fewer people. A replacement name may be possible, but it is never guaranteed across flights, accommodation and activities.
Agree the group’s own cancellation approach before booking, then make clear that supplier terms take priority.
Can we split restaurant and bar bills?
Do not assume so. A large group may be required to use one payment method, a set menu or a pre-order. Ask before the meal and nominate one person to check the final bill.
An agreed group pot is usually easier than trying to reconstruct everybody’s drinks at the end of a busy dinner.
Do we need cash in Spain?
Cards are widely accepted, but each guest should have a second payment method and a modest amount of cash. This can help with small purchases, some taxis or a card-terminal failure.
Do not keep every passport, bank card and the group’s cash in one bag.
Accommodation
Is a villa better than a hotel or apartment?
A villa gives the group shared space, a kitchen and potentially a private pool. A hotel can make check-in, luggage storage, room allocation and the journey home easier. Central apartments may offer a useful compromise.
Compare real beds, bathrooms, air conditioning, noise rules, access and transport—not only the headline nightly rate.
What should we check before booking group accommodation?
Ask for written confirmation that the full hen or stag party is accepted. Check the exact address, legal occupancy, bed layout, bathrooms, air conditioning, pool access, quiet hours, visitor rules, security deposit, check-in procedure, luggage storage and cancellation terms.
A listing that sleeps 16 may rely on sofa beds or shared rooms that do not suit the group.
Why is the exact map pin so important?
Place names are used loosely. “Marbella”, “Puerto Banús” and “Nueva Andalucía” can describe properties with very different walking routes and taxi costs. Mijas Costa and Benalmádena are also spread across coastal and inland districts.
The pin affects the airport vehicle, every restaurant journey and whether people can return independently. It is one of the most important checks in the entire plan.
Is a private pool worth paying for?
Only if the group will use it and the season makes that realistic. Ask whether the pool is heated, when it is available and whether music, glass or outside visitors are prohibited.
An apartment with a communal pool can cost less, but communal rules may make it unsuitable for a celebratory group. Read those rules before booking.
What accommodation rules cause the most problems?
Noise limits, visitors, late arrival, pool hours, smoking, decorations and checkout are common sources of conflict. A private villa is not permission to hold an event.
Send the rules to everybody before travelling. If the planned behaviour conflicts with them, choose different accommodation rather than hoping nobody notices.
What if the villa cannot be reached by a large minibus?
Ask the property and transfer company before arrival. Gated developments, narrow streets and steep approaches can prevent a large vehicle reaching the door.
Agree one precise meeting or drop-off point and explain how the group will move the luggage for the final section.
What should we do with luggage before check-in or after checkout?
Ask the property whether secure storage is available and get the agreed times in writing. If it is not, arrange an airport hold, staffed luggage facility or transfer timed around the group’s access.
Do not plan a boat, beach club or water activity while everybody is responsible for suitcases.
Málaga Airport and local transport
What is the easiest airport transfer for a large group?
A pre-booked minibus is usually the simplest option once the party reaches about eight people, particularly when everyone lands together. It keeps the group and luggage in one booking and goes directly to the accommodation.
The vehicle’s luggage capacity matters as much as its passenger count. Give the operator the number and approximate size of suitcases before accepting the quote.
How long does Málaga Airport to Marbella take?
Allow roughly 40–60 minutes by road in ordinary conditions, then add time for summer traffic, flight delays, collecting luggage and reaching the exact property. Puerto Banús, San Pedro and Cancelada are farther west than central Marbella.
Use the Málaga Airport large-group transfer guide for route-specific planning rather than treating one estimate as a guaranteed pickup time.
Is there a train from Málaga Airport to Marbella?
No direct railway reaches Marbella. Málaga’s C1 Cercanías line serves Torremolinos, Benalmádena and Fuengirola, making it useful for Benalmádena but not a direct Marbella transfer.
For Marbella, compare a private road transfer with the airport coach. Check the current network through Renfe.
Is there a bus from Málaga Airport to Marbella?
Yes. Aena lists an Avanza service between the airport and Marbella bus station. It may be economical for individuals, but a group staying in Puerto Banús, Nueva Andalucía, San Pedro or a villa will normally need another journey from the station.
Check the live timetable, luggage rules and fares through Aena’s Málaga Airport transport page and the operator before travel.
Can we take the train to Benalmádena?
Yes. The C1 line connects Málaga Airport with stations in Benalmádena. Check which station is closest to the accommodation: Arroyo de la Miel is inland and is not the same as arriving beside Puerto Marina.
For a large group with several cases, compare the final walk or taxi connection with the simplicity of a direct vehicle.
Are several taxis cheaper than a minibus?
Sometimes, but compare like with like. Several vehicles can split up at the airport, carry different amounts of luggage and arrive at different entrances. A minibus gives the organiser one driver, one pickup and one destination.
Ask for both complete quotes. Do not estimate the answer by multiplying a remembered taxi fare from a previous year.
What if people arrive on different flights?
Group arrivals into sensible windows. When most passengers land together, use one main vehicle and arrange a smaller transfer for the outliers. Holding a full minibus for several hours may cost more and frustrate the first arrivals.
Share flight numbers and decide in advance how long the main group will wait after a delay.
Should we pre-book local transport as well as the airport transfer?
Yes for rural activities, timed restaurant bookings, festivals and venues away from the accommodation. A large party cannot assume several taxis will arrive together at a villa or after a major event.
Confirm the vehicle, pickup pin, time, return arrangement and lead passenger’s number. Arrange transport home before the group starts drinking.
Should we book the return airport transfer at the same time?
Usually. It removes a final-day job and lets the operator check the address, vehicle and luggage requirement in advance. Build in time for checkout, traffic, airport formalities and possible new Schengen border procedures.
Reconfirm the pickup shortly before travel and give every guest the departure time.
Activities
How many activities should we book?
One main activity is usually enough for a two-night weekend. Add a light Sunday option only when the flight time, checkout and luggage arrangements make it comfortable.
A three-hour activity often occupies five hours once transport, registration, changing and waiting for the entire group are included.
What are the best Marbella hen-party activities?
Private Epic Yacht charters, spa sessions, yoga or Pilates, cocktail or dance classes, paddleboarding, a pool or beach day and a dinner with date-confirmed entertainment all work for different types of hen group.
Choose by fitness, budget and group mood. The Marbella hen activities guide explains the limitations as well as the advantages.
What are the best Marbella stag-do activities?
Paintball, karting, buggies, canyoning, golf, padel, watersports, an Epic Yacht charter and competitive indoor activities are the main options. They are not interchangeable: driving documents, fitness, heat and transport can decide what is realistic.
Use the Marbella stag activities guide before collecting payment.
Which activities work for mixed ages or non-drinkers?
Yoga, mat Pilates, a spa, padel with coaching, golf, a relaxed boat trip, a beach day and indoor team activities can all work without alcohol. Choose something that allows breaks or different ability levels.
If booking a cocktail class, request a proper alcohol-free version rather than expecting non-drinkers to watch.
Are there many activities in Puerto Banús itself?
There are enough for a locally focused weekend, but the list is narrower than the wider Marbella area. The strongest local options are Epic Yacht departures from the marina, watersports around Playa Levante, the seasonal floating water park and indoor competitive activities nearby.
Paintball, canyoning, many golf courses, karting and buggy tours require road transport. See the Puerto Banús stag guide for an itinerary that does not pretend those activities are in the marina.
What are the best activities in Mijas Costa?
Mijas Costa works well for buggy tours, padel, golf, spa time, AquaMijas and a Max Beach day. The attractions are spread across the municipality, so most groups need transport for at least one booking.
Do not describe a boat departure from another marina as a local Mijas activity. Use the Mijas Costa activities guide for exact locations.
What are the best activities around Benalmádena and Puerto Marina?
Boat cruises, watersports, Prison Island, SEA LIFE and nearby beaches can be combined without travelling far when the group stays by Puerto Marina. Golf Torrequebrada and the cable car require transport.
Dolphin sightings are never guaranteed. Check capacity, timings and operating calendars in the Benalmádena activities guide.
Are dolphins guaranteed on a Benalmádena boat trip?
No. A wildlife cruise can have a good historical sighting rate without guaranteeing dolphins on a particular departure. Sea conditions, route and animal movement are outside the operator’s control.
Book the trip only if the group will still enjoy the cruise without a sighting, and read the operator’s current terms.
Is the Benalmádena cable car beside Puerto Marina?
No. The lower station is in Arroyo de la Miel, inland from the marina. Allow for local transport and check the operating calendar, wind conditions and return time before leaving.
Do not place it between tightly timed marina bookings.
Is AquaMijas suitable for adult hen and stag groups?
It can be, if the group genuinely enjoys water slides and a public water-park setting. It is not a private party venue, so other visitors, queues and standard behaviour rules are part of the experience.
Check the seasonal calendar, group arrangements, lockers and transport before booking.
What are the best wet-weather activities?
Indoor competitive games, VR, Prison Island, SEA LIFE, spas and private classes are the most realistic alternatives, depending on location. “Indoor” does not mean available at short notice for 16 people.
Check simultaneous capacity and bookability before relying on an option as the backup.
Does everyone need to participate?
No, but decide this before booking. Ask whether spectators are allowed, whether they pay and where they wait. Some providers charge a fixed group cost, while others charge per participant.
Do not pressure guests with injuries, pregnancy, mobility restrictions or water anxiety into an unsuitable activity.
Can a pregnant guest join the weekend’s activities?
They may be able to join meals, gentle classes and parts of the evening, but boats, spa treatments, heat, alcohol-led sessions and physical activities must be considered separately. Suitability can also change by stage of pregnancy and individual health.
Ask each provider before paying and encourage the guest to take appropriate medical advice. Never assume one provider’s answer applies to the whole itinerary.
Do buggy tours require a driving licence?
Drivers normally need a valid licence; passengers may have separate age or safety restrictions. Ask whether an original licence is required, whether UK licences are accepted and whether drivers can change during the tour.
Nobody driving should drink beforehand. Obtain the exact provider rules in writing.
Do jet skis require a licence?
Some supervised circuits and guided excursions do not require a boating licence because training is provided, but the answer depends on the operator and product. Confirm the rider’s minimum age, identification, licence, medical and passenger rules for the exact session.
Do not apply one provider’s conditions to a different jet-ski booking.
Is paintball suitable for everybody?
No. It involves running, crouching, heat, protective clothing and the possibility of bruising. Anyone with an injury, limited mobility or low tolerance for physical contact may need another activity.
Ask about the game format, session length, protective equipment, minimum group, included paintballs and reload cost before booking. The detailed Marbella stag activities guide covers the current Fuerte de Nagüeles arrangement.
What happens if an outdoor activity is cancelled?
The operator’s written terms decide. There may be a refund, reschedule or credit when the provider cancels for safety, but a customer deciding the weather is disappointing may not have the same rights.
Ask who makes the decision, when it is made and what happens when the group cannot accept another time because of flights.
Boats and yacht charters
Which company should we use for a Marbella hen or stag boat trip?
All private boat recommendations in these guides use Epic Yacht Marbella. Its charters depart from Puerto Banús and the exact fleet, availability, licensed capacity, inclusions and price must be checked for the chosen date.
Use the hen boat guide or stag boat guide to choose the right style of charter.
How long should we hire the boat for?
Two hours can work as a short experience, while three or four hours gives more time to cruise, stop and relax without occupying the entire day. The right choice depends on the vessel, sea conditions and the rest of the itinerary.
Allow time before boarding and after returning. Going directly from a boat to a formal dinner is rarely comfortable for a large group.
Can one yacht take more than 12 guests?
Do not assume so. Several Epic Yacht examples used in the guides publish maximum guest numbers of 11 or 12. A larger party needs a legally licensed option for the complete number, which may require a different vessel or arrangement.
Confirm the licensed passenger limit and final manifest directly with Epic before collecting money.
What is normally included in a private yacht charter?
The skipper or crew, fuel for the stated route, basic drinks and use of the onboard sound system may be included, but packages vary by boat. Food, premium drinks, extra cruising, water toys or harbour charges should never be assumed.
Ask for an itemised, VAT-inclusive total for the exact vessel and duration.
Can we bring alcohol and food onboard?
Only according to the rules for the chosen vessel. Some published packages include beer, wine or cava, water and soft drinks. Ask whether additional drinks, catering, cakes, cool boxes and particular containers are allowed.
Avoid glass, confetti and glitter unless expressly permitted. They create safety, cleaning and marine-litter problems.
Can we play our own music?
Epic’s general information refers to Bluetooth sound systems, but confirm the equipment on the actual yacht. The crew controls safe volume and behaviour onboard.
Download a playlist before leaving the marina in case mobile reception is unreliable.
What should we bring on the boat?
Bring swimwear, a towel if not supplied, sunscreen, a light layer, suitable non-slip footwear, any permitted food or drink and required identification. Keep valuables to a minimum.
Ask about toilet access, shade, towels, refrigeration and storage rather than assuming every yacht has the same facilities.
What if somebody gets seasick?
Tell them the plan before payment and let them decide whether to join. A catamaran may feel more stable than a smaller motorboat, but no vessel eliminates motion.
Seek advice from a pharmacist or doctor about appropriate medication, follow the label and avoid mixing medicine with excessive alcohol.
What happens if the weather is unsafe?
Epic’s published information has described refund or free-rescheduling options when hazardous conditions cause cancellation. The terms attached to the actual booking take priority and should be checked before payment.
Ask what happens if a replacement time conflicts with the return flight or another non-refundable booking.
Restaurants and group meals
Which restaurants do these guides recommend?
Restaurant recommendations are limited to Metro Grupo venues. The aim is still to choose the right venue by location, menu, atmosphere and group needs rather than send every party to the same place.
Use the dedicated hen restaurant guide, stag restaurant guide and Puerto Banús group restaurant guide for the relevant shortlist.
Which restaurant is the most practical for a large group?
Jack’s Smokehouse is the clearest starting point in both Puerto Banús and Puerto Marina because of its informal format and broad menu. It is particularly useful when tastes and budgets vary.
That does not guarantee one table or automatic acceptance. Confirm the location, group size, layout, menu and booking terms directly.
Where can we combine dinner with entertainment?
Nomad in Nueva Andalucía can suit a group that wants a more event-led dinner, but its shows are seasonal and date-specific. Check the current programme, table time, deposit, minimum spend and dress conditions before advertising a “dinner show” to the group.
Joys in Puerto Banús is a live-music and cocktail venue rather than a restaurant-led dinner show.
Do restaurants accept hen and stag parties?
Many do when the booking is made honestly and in advance. Acceptance may depend on size, time, clothing and behaviour. A normal table reservation is not necessarily approval for costumes, speeches, decorations or drinking games.
State the occasion and the true group number when enquiring.
Will we need a set menu or deposit?
Possibly. Larger groups may be asked for a deposit, pre-order, set menu, card guarantee or minimum spend. Each venue sets its own conditions, and a policy published by one Metro Grupo restaurant must not be applied to another.
Get the price, inclusions, service charge, payment deadline and cancellation terms in writing.
Can restaurants handle allergies and dietary requirements?
Most can discuss common requirements in advance, but a serious allergy needs direct confirmation from the restaurant. Send one accurate list early and ask what the kitchen can safely provide.
Do not describe a dish as allergen-free simply because it is vegetarian, vegan or gluten-conscious.
Can we bring decorations, a cake or hen and stag props?
Only with permission. Ask about balloons, table decorations, cakes, explicit accessories, confetti, setup time and storage. Venues may accept the party while refusing particular items.
Avoid buying personalised decorations until the restaurant has approved them in writing.
Can a restaurant guarantee a football or rugby match?
Only if it confirms the specific fixture, screen, sound and table position. A venue showing sport generally is not a guarantee that every match will be available or audible.
Reconfirm close to the date because broadcast schedules can change.
Which Metro Grupo restaurants are in Puerto Banús?
The Puerto Banús content includes Jack’s Smokehouse, Leone Brasserie, Chow, Mumtaz, Red Pepper and Joys for live music and drinks. Select by menu and the group’s next booking rather than trying to visit several in one night.
See the Puerto Banús restaurant guide for the most useful combinations.
Which Metro Grupo restaurants are in Benalmádena’s Puerto Marina?
Jack’s Smokehouse, Metro Ristorante Italiano, Cantina Mexicana, Gaucho Grill and Kaleido give groups a range from casual menus and cocktails to Italian food or a steak-led dinner.
They are close enough to build a walkable marina evening when the accommodation is nearby. Check large-group availability and current menus directly.
Which Metro Grupo venues fit a Mijas Costa stay?
Max Beach in Riviera del Sol and MAO are the main local venues included in the Mijas Costa hub. Max Beach combines food with a pool-and-beach setting; MAO provides a separate dining option.
Use their exact locations when choosing accommodation. Mijas Costa is too spread out to assume every property is nearby.
Pool clubs and beach clubs
What is the difference between a pool club and a beach club?
A pool club is chosen mainly for its pool, beds, cabanas and event atmosphere. A beach club puts the seafront, beds on the sand and a beachfront meal first. Some venues genuinely fit both categories, but the booking product may still differ.
Use the Marbella pool-club guide and Marbella beach-club guide separately.
Is a restaurant reservation enough to use a pool or beach bed?
Usually not. A restaurant table, pool bed, beach lounger, cabana and event ticket can be separate products. Ask exactly which areas every guest may use and whether the booking includes entry.
This is especially important at hotel-based clubs, where outside lunch guests may not receive access to guest facilities.
Is a pool bed the same as an event ticket?
Not necessarily. A special event may require a separate ticket or apply different arrival conditions. Ask whether every named guest is covered by the bed booking and whether there is a last-entry deadline.
Do not rely on a standard-day booking page for an event date.
Can hen and stag groups book pool and beach clubs?
Some venues provide group-enquiry routes, but acceptance depends on the date, number, group composition, clothing and behaviour. Always identify the occasion and obtain confirmation before payment.
A booking system accepting a card does not remove the venue’s admission rules.
Can we wear matching outfits or hen and stag accessories?
Not everywhere. Several premium venues prohibit some combination of matching clothing, coordinated colours, fancy dress, sportswear, body glitter, face gems and hen or stag props.
Send a description or photograph of the planned outfit when asking. Do not put the group at risk of refusal for the sake of a sash or costume.
Which pool clubs suit a party atmosphere?
Ocean Club, NAÔ and Mogli are among the more music-led choices, while La Sala by the Sea and Max Beach provide clear group-enquiry routes. The event matters more than the venue’s general reputation.
Compare the date, DJ, music, bed price, ticket, minimum spend, dress code and group acceptance before choosing.
Which pool option is better for a quieter group?
Lucia in east Marbella is the clearest relaxed, family-friendly option covered in the pool guide. A standard day at Max Beach or La Sala by the Sea may also work, but the atmosphere changes on special-event dates.
Check the calendar rather than assuming the same mood every day.
Is Max Beach in Marbella?
No. Max Beach is in Riviera del Sol, Mijas Costa. It is relevant to Costa del Sol groups and can be reached by road from Marbella, but its location must be shown accurately.
It is most convenient for groups already staying in Mijas Costa.
Which Marbella beach club has a boho atmosphere?
Bono Beach is the most boho of the venues compared in the beach-club guide. It suits an unhurried beach day and meal better than a formal, high-spend pool-party plan.
Ask about the date, group booking, beds, restaurant table and entertainment before travelling.
Where can we have Spanish food by the beach?
Sabine Beach is the clearest fit among the beach venues covered. Its menu includes Andalusian and Spanish choices alongside international dishes.
Keep Sabine within the dedicated beach-club content rather than inserting it into Puerto Banús or Mijas restaurant hubs, where the location would be misleading.
Are Nikki Beach, La Cabane and Marbella Club Beach Club suitable for every group?
No. They suit different budgets and atmospheres, and some publish strict dress or accessory rules. Marbella Club Beach Club is a hotel-linked experience whose access for external guests must be confirmed; a lunch reservation should not be presented as guaranteed pool or lounger access.
Large stag or highly themed groups should discuss acceptance directly before paying.
What happens if the weather is poor on a pool- or beach-club day?
Policies vary. A venue may move the date, offer seasonal credit or refund only when it cannot operate. Cloud, wind or a group’s change of mind does not automatically create a cash refund.
Read the exact weather and cancellation wording attached to the reservation.
Nightlife, DJs and festivals
Is Puerto Banús the best place to stay for nightlife?
It is the easiest base for marina bars, Joys and the late clubs in Puerto Banús. It does not put every Marbella venue within walking distance: FITZ, Momento, Bonbonniere and Starlite are in different areas.
Choose Puerto Banús for a flexible marina night, not because you expect the whole Marbella nightlife scene to be on one street.
What types of nightlife are available in Puerto Banús?
The area includes live music, cocktail bars, disco bars, rooftop events and late-night clubs. These are different nights and should not be placed in one generic club list.
Joys is a live-music venue; Astral is a cocktail bar; La Habana de Hemingway is a disco cocktail bar; Pangea is rooftop and event-led; TIBU and Funky Buddha are late-night clubs. Check the Marbella nightlife guide for the current classification.
Is Playa Padre a nightclub?
No. It is a beach club and day-to-sunset event venue. A selected DJ date may feel club-like, but the timings, ticket and access conditions are different from a permanent late-night club.
Choose the specific event, not only the venue name.
Is La Siesta a conventional nightclub?
It should be treated according to its current beach-venue and event programme, including collaborations that may take place elsewhere. Do not assume it offers the same format every night or that every listing refers to the same location.
Check the official calendar and ticket details for the date.
Is Starlite the same as a normal club night?
No. Starlite Occident is a seasonal festival with ticketed concerts and separate Sessions or after-party programming. The artist, ticket zone, arrival time and transport depend on the date.
It should be planned as the main event of the night, not added casually after dinner.
Do major DJs appear in Marbella every weekend?
No. Headline programmes are concentrated in summer and each appearance is date-specific. June, July and August normally provide the greatest choice, with August also bringing the most heat, traffic and demand.
Check official event calendars before choosing flights if the music is the reason for travelling.
Is elrow a Marbella venue?
No. Elrow is a travelling event brand. A Costa del Sol edition may be held in Málaga or another location when officially announced, but a previous event does not guarantee a Marbella-area date next season.
If elrow is essential, choose the trip only after the official calendar confirms the location and date.
Where should we look for hip-hop and R&B?
Start with the event calendars for FITZ and Pangea. FITZ also hosts other music styles, so the artist and promoter matter more than a broad venue label.
TIBU and Funky Buddha programmes can also vary by night. Check the actual event before buying tickets.
Where should we look for house or Afro-house?
Compare the date-specific programmes at Momento, Playa Padre and Pangea. A venue’s general reputation does not guarantee one music style on the chosen evening.
For a music-led trip, use the Marbella DJ parties and festivals guide alongside each official calendar.
Do Marbella clubs accept hen parties?
Many do, but entry is not automatic. Send the true group size and ask about matching outfits, accessories, age, identification, tickets, tables and arrival deadlines.
A promoter describing an event as hen-friendly does not override the venue’s door policy.
Can a large all-male stag group enter Marbella clubs?
Possibly, but never assume it. Premium clubs may be cautious about a large all-male booking. Obtain written confirmation that covers the full number, ticket or table type, dress code and arrival time.
A table can help only when the venue knowingly accepts the whole group; it is not a way around door discretion.
Do we need a VIP table?
No. A table provides a fixed base but normally requires a deposit or minimum spend. Tickets or a bar-led night are more flexible when budgets differ or several guests do not drink.
Only book a table when every guest understands the per-person cost and the venue has accepted the full party.
What is the difference between a ticket, guest list and table?
A ticket buys entry subject to its terms. A guest list may offer reduced or conditional entry before a deadline. A table reserves a group area and usually carries a minimum spend. None necessarily guarantees admission if identification, dress or behaviour breaches the rules.
Ask which names are covered, the last-entry time and what happens to the deposit after a refusal or late arrival.
What time should we arrive at a nightclub or event?
Follow the booking instructions. A guest-list deadline or concert start can matter more than the time the venue becomes busiest. Beach events may begin in the afternoon, while late clubs may not open until around midnight.
Build dinner and transport around the confirmed entry time, not around a generic Marbella nightlife schedule.
What identification should we take?
Ask the venue which original photo identification it accepts and check the minimum age for that event. A photograph of a passport may not be accepted at the door.
Keep the document secure and do not carry every group member’s passport in one bag.
Can we rely on taxis after a major event?
No. Demand can be high and several taxis may not arrive together. Pre-book where possible, agree a precise pickup point and have a plan for anybody leaving early.
This is particularly important for Starlite, Playa Padre and clubs outside Puerto Banús marina.
Can non-drinkers enjoy Marbella nightlife?
Yes. Live music, concerts and ticketed DJ events do not require alcohol. The practical problem is often a table minimum spend based on bottles.
Ask whether alcohol-free drinks count towards the commitment. A ticketed or bar-led night may be fairer than sharing a premium bottle table.
Golf, fitness and healthy weekends
Can a hen or stag weekend be healthy without being alcohol-free?
Yes. It may simply mean planning daytime activities, proper meals and recovery instead of drinking from breakfast onwards. Guests can still choose a night out without making alcohol the only shared activity.
The healthy Marbella hen and stag guide includes yoga, Pilates, padel, gyms, hiking and watersports.
What works well for an active hen group?
A private yoga or mat Pilates class is easy to adapt for mixed experience. Padel with a coach, paddleboarding, kayaking or a guided walk can add more activity without taking over the weekend.
Ask about pregnancy, injuries, heat, equipment and changing facilities before confirming the whole group.
What works well for a healthy stag group?
Golf, padel, a gym session, kayaking, swimming, jet skiing, water skiing or a guided hike can replace a drinking-led afternoon. Choose one substantial activity and leave time to recover before dinner.
Do not assume a normal gym day pass automatically accepts a large stag party; contact the facility with the true number.
Is La Concha suitable for every active group?
No. The full guided hike can occupy most of the day and requires good fitness and confidence on a mountain route. Some trail sections can be difficult to distinguish, and heat or weather increases the challenge.
Use a qualified guide and choose a shorter walk when abilities vary. It is not a sensible activity after a heavy night.
Can beginners play padel?
Yes, especially with a coach and a simple rotating format. Booking several courts without instruction can leave beginners standing around and experienced players frustrated.
Ask how many people can play at once, whether rackets and balls are included and how the session will be divided.
Can a large group use Real Club Padel or THE I/O on a day pass?
Do not assume so. A venue offering individual access does not automatically have capacity or permission for a large hen or stag group. Explain the occasion, date and number before paying.
THE I/O is described in the current guide as a health club rather than a confirmed padel venue. Use Real Club Padel or another verified court provider for padel.
Is canoeing available in Marbella?
The beachfront option checked for the healthy-weekend guide advertised double kayaks rather than canoes. If the exact craft matters, ask the provider to confirm it in writing.
Otherwise describe and book the activity accurately as kayaking.
How long does an 18-hole golf day take?
Allow five to six hours for the full outing. The round itself may take a little over four hours, but travel, check-in, equipment collection and waiting for the last group add time.
Golf should normally be the day’s main activity. See the Marbella golf stag-do guide for course comparisons and visitor rules.
Can complete beginners play golf?
That depends on the club’s visitor and handicap rules. Even where beginners are permitted, a lesson, range session or nine holes may be more enjoyable than a full round.
Give the club an honest description of ability and ask about pace-of-play expectations.
Should we hire golf buggies?
They can be useful on hilly courses and in warm weather, but availability, sharing and driver conditions vary. A buggy is transport around the course, not part of the party entertainment.
Nobody should drive one after heavy drinking.
Can we wear stag fancy dress on a golf course?
Do not assume so. Ask the club before buying outfits. Matching collared golf shirts are less likely to breach the dress code than costumes or explicit clothing.
Normal etiquette and pace rules still apply to a stag booking.
Is summer too hot for golf?
Not necessarily, but an early tee time matters. Carry water, use sunscreen and do not arrive dehydrated from the night before. Midday heat can make a long round unpleasant even when the course is open.
Compare the weather, tee time and buggy availability before choosing a summer date.
Passports, insurance and practical travel questions
What passport rules apply to British visitors to Spain?
For a standard short visit on a full British citizen passport, the passport must normally have been issued less than ten years before arrival and expire at least three months after the planned departure from the Schengen area. Different nationalities or circumstances may have different rules.
Check the current GOV.UK Spain entry requirements before booking and again before travel.
Do British visitors need a visa for a weekend in Spain?
British citizens can normally visit the Schengen area without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180-day period, subject to the current conditions. Previous travel elsewhere in Schengen counts towards that total.
Check the official entry guidance for every traveller’s nationality and circumstances rather than assuming the organiser’s rules apply to the group.
What is the Entry/Exit System, and will it affect our airport time?
The EU Entry/Exit System is being implemented for short-stay visitors and may require biometric registration such as a photograph and fingerprints. GOV.UK advises allowing extra time for border processes, particularly on a first journey after implementation.
Check the latest official guidance shortly before departure because rollout arrangements can change.
Do we need travel insurance if we have a GHIC?
Yes. A valid UK GHIC can give eligible travellers access to necessary state healthcare on the same basis as a resident, but it does not replace travel insurance and does not cover matters such as private treatment or medical repatriation.
Check the NHS GHIC guidance and buy insurance that covers the activities, cancellation risks and medical needs of the trip.
Should the group buy one travel-insurance policy?
Each traveller must know what covers them. An individual annual policy may be sufficient for one guest, while another person may need separate cover for a medical condition or activity.
Check that boats, watersports, hiking, canyoning, driving activities and alcohol-related exclusions are understood. The cheapest policy is not useful if it excludes the main booking.
What is the emergency number in Spain?
Call 112 for police, ambulance or fire services in an emergency. It is the EU-wide emergency number and is free from fixed and mobile phones.
Save 112, the accommodation address and the organiser’s number in every guest’s phone. The European Commission’s 112 page explains how the service works.
Who should keep the passports?
Adults should normally keep their own documents secure. Each person should store a separate copy of the passport photo page and know how to contact their insurer.
Do not keep all passports, cards and cash together. One lost bag should not disable the whole party.
What should we do if a passport is lost or stolen?
Report theft where required, contact the relevant consular service and follow the official process for emergency travel documents. Contact the airline and insurer as well, because timelines and covered costs differ.
Keep digital copies and emergency contact details somewhere accessible without the missing phone.
How do we keep a large group organised abroad?
Give every booking one named lead and one backup. Share a single itinerary containing exact pins, reservation names, times, dress requirements, payment status and provider numbers.
Use a group chat for updates but keep the final information in one read-only message or document so essential details do not disappear beneath conversation.
Should the organiser book everyone’s flights?
Not necessarily. One booking keeps times aligned but exposes the organiser to a large payment. An alternative is to select one or two approved flights, set a deadline and ask each traveller to confirm after booking.
Every passenger should check that their name exactly matches their travel document.
How should we handle drinking in hot weather?
Start with food and water, pace the alcohol and do not place demanding activities after a heavy session. Sun, dehydration, boats and unfamiliar surroundings can make intoxication more risky than at home.
No one who is drinking should drive a buggy, jet ski, hire car or golf cart contrary to the provider’s rules or the law.
What is the most common planning mistake?
Booking attractive accommodation without checking its exact location. That decision affects the airport transfer, every taxi, the restaurant plan, the journey home and whether guests can separate safely.
The second most common mistake is overbooking Saturday. One main activity, recovery time and one well-planned evening is usually enough.
What must always be confirmed directly before paying?
Confirm the following in writing for the exact date and group:
acceptance of a hen or stag party;
final group size and licensed capacity;
full price, VAT, service charges and minimum spend;
deposit, balance deadline and payment method;
cancellation, name-change and bad-weather terms;
inclusions and exclusions;
age, identification, fitness and driving-licence requirements;
dress code, matching-outfit and decoration rules;
arrival, last-entry and table times;
transport pickup point and luggage capacity;
accessibility, allergies and medical limitations.
