The right base depends on what the group will actually do. Old Town is best for walkable food and central bars, Puerto Banús is best for nightlife access, the Golden Mile or Nueva Andalucía is better for a larger villa, and San Pedro or Cancelada may reduce the accommodation cost. A central apartment saves taxi journeys; a villa or out-of-town flat provides more space but makes transport part of the budget.
The first question is not whether a property sleeps 12. It is whether the owner knowingly accepts a stag group of 12. Many Marbella rentals prohibit stag parties, all-male groups or events, even when their headline capacity is large enough. Obtain written approval before anyone books flights around the property.
Marbella Old Town: the easiest base for going out centrally
Old Town is useful for a stag group that wants restaurants, tapas bars, the seafront and central Marbella within walking distance. It makes a short weekend efficient: guests can split up for breakfast, meet again easily and avoid organising transport for every meal.
Most accommodation is apartments or townhouses rather than villas. Expect less privacy, little or no pool space and neighbours on the other side of the wall. Vehicle access can be awkward in the pedestrian streets, and parking several hire cars is rarely convenient.
Best for: A group that will spend the days out and wants an easy base for central dinners and bars.
Less suitable for: A group expecting a private pool, barbecue area or somewhere to continue the night after the bars close.
Before booking: Confirm stag acceptance, proper beds, stairs or lift access, parking and the route from the taxi drop-off. Treat the apartment as accommodation, not the after-party.
Puerto Banus: pay more to keep the nightlife close
Puerto Banus is the practical choice when the weekend is centred on marina bars, live sport, restaurants and late venues. Staying nearby can remove two large taxi movements on the main night and lets guests return at different times without reorganising the whole group.
The price reflects that convenience. Puerto Banus was reported as Spain's most expensive coastal holiday-rental market for summer 2026, with an average of €3,800 per week for a 110-square-metre property. Larger group accommodation and prime marina positions can be considerably higher.
There is also a difference between being near Puerto Banus and being in it. Some listings use the name for properties several kilometres inland. A precise map pin and walking route matter more than the marketing title.
Best for: A group planning more than one night around Puerto Banus or prioritising late access over a large garden.
Less suitable for: The lowest accommodation budget, easy parking or a quiet residential setting.
Before booking: Ask whether the bedrooms are affected by street noise, whether security restricts visitors and whether any pool is private, communal or seasonal.
The Golden Mile: a higher-end villa base between town and Banus
The Golden Mile offers larger homes, private pools and quick road access to both central Marbella and Puerto Banus. It suits a group that wants a comfortable base and is prepared to pay for the property and transport.
Do not assume that every Golden Mile villa is close enough to walk anywhere. Roads, hills and gated developments can make a short map distance impractical. The more secluded properties need pre-booked taxis or a minibus, especially when the whole group has the same dinner reservation.
The area also contains high-value homes with strict age, event and guest rules. A large deposit and a seven-night minimum are possible at the premium end, even when the group needs only a long weekend.
Best for: A more comfortable weekend, private pool time and groups willing to use taxis.
Less suitable for: A short, price-led trip or a group expecting the villa to operate as a private club.
Before booking: Confirm the minimum stay, group policy, security deposit, outdoor rules and whether every advertised bedroom is included in the price.
Nueva Andalucia: the strongest villa alternative for space and golf
Nueva Andalucia lies behind Puerto Banus and is often the most useful search area for a stag group wanting a villa. Larger homes, pools and parking are more common, and the location works particularly well when golf forms part of the weekend.
The downside is reliance on transport. The area is spread out, and walking routes can involve hills or major roads. The residential surroundings also mean that group acceptance does not equal permission for late noise, DJs or outside guests.
Best for: A group of ten or more wanting a pool, real shared space, parking or easier golf access.
Less suitable for: Guests who want to walk between the accommodation, Old Town and the marina.
San Pedro de Alcántara: a calmer base close to the action by taxi
San Pedro has its own bars, restaurants, beach and seafront. It can offer better-value apartments than Puerto Banús while keeping the group close enough for planned nights in the marina or central Marbella.
Flats with communal pools can be a better fit than a villa for a stag group that will spend most of the day out. They reduce the cost and responsibility of a private property, but the pool and shared areas must be used within community rules.
Best for: A group balancing budget, local restaurants and access to Puerto Banús by taxi.
Less suitable for: A nightlife-first weekend where everyone expects to walk home.
Cancelada, Estepona: lower prices can justify the extra transport
Cancelada is in Estepona, west of Marbella. Villas, townhouses and flats with communal pools can be much better value than comparable options in Nueva Andalucía or central Marbella.
Do not treat “half the price” as a standing rule. A genuine comparison must use the same dates, capacity, property standard, pool type, fees and cancellation terms. Add airport, activity and nightlife transport before deciding that the cheaper nightly rate wins.
Best for: A larger group prioritising bedrooms, a pool and accommodation value.
Less suitable for: A short stag weekend with several bookings in Puerto Banús or Marbella and no transport plan.
Before booking: Confirm stag acceptance, the exact municipality and address, pool rules, taxi access and whether a minibus can collect at the door.
Four realistic accommodation options
These are planning bands for the whole property, not fixed quotations. Date, minimum stay and cancellation terms can change the total significantly. Add cleaning, booking fees, a refundable security deposit, pool heating and group transport before comparing options.
Central apartment or penthouse for 6-8 guests
Typical planning band: About €450-€900 per night, or roughly €55-€115 per person when full.
A central apartment is often the most efficient answer for a smaller group. It provides a base near the beach, Old Town restaurants and central Marbella bars without paying for a garden that nobody will use.
Honest limitation: Advertised capacity can include sofa beds in the living room. It is also the least forgiving format for noise, extra visitors and late arrivals. Request the exact bed plan and written stag acceptance.
A current Old Town marketplace example sleeping eight was showing a one-night total from approximately €669 including taxes for a selected August 2026 date when checked. Live pricing changes with dates and demand, so use it as a market reference rather than a quote.
San Pedro or Cancelada apartments with a communal pool for 8-12 guests
Two nearby flats or one larger apartment can provide proper beds, several bathrooms and pool access without the price or deposit exposure of a detached villa. This is worth comparing for a group that mainly needs a base rather than a private event space.
Price guidance: Use live quotes for the exact dates and add all transport. Do not publish a fixed percentage saving for Cancelada without a current matched example.
Honest limitation: The pool and terraces are shared spaces with community rules. Cancelada is outside Marbella, while San Pedro still requires taxis for most Puerto Banús plans.
Puerto Banus townhouse for 8-10 guests
Typical planning band: About €550-€1,200 per night, or roughly €55-€150 per person when full.
This property type gives the group a living area, terrace and sometimes a small private pool while keeping the marina close. It is a sensible middle ground between several apartments and a remote luxury villa.
A current published example is Villa Antonio in Puerto Banus, a five-bedroom townhouse advertised for up to ten guests from €560 per night, with a private pool and rooftop terrace.
Honest limitation: The listing does not say that stag groups are automatically accepted. Disclose the booking type, ages and intended use and obtain approval in writing.
Nueva Andalucia or Golden Mile villa for 10-12 guests
Typical planning band: About €700-€2,500+ per night, or roughly €60-€250+ per person when full.
The lower end is more realistic inland or outside peak dates; the higher end reflects larger Golden Mile homes, high season and premium facilities. This category works when the group will use the pool, outdoor table and common areas enough to justify the transport.
A current Nueva Andalucia example is Villa Suenoes, advertised for ten guests from €598 per night with five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a pool and tennis court. On the Golden Mile, Villa Mariposais is advertised for 12 guests from €1,080 per night with six bedrooms and six bathrooms.
Honest limitation: Neither listing gives blanket stag-party approval. Attractive homes can refuse single-sex groups, impose minimum ages or require a substantial deposit. Approval for the exact group matters more than the published capacity.
The examples above were checked on 14 August 2026. They demonstrate real property types and published starting prices, but do not guarantee availability or acceptance.
What matters when booking stag accommodation
Explicit acceptance of an all-male stag group
State the group type, number and age range before paying. Some managers accept respectful stag and golf groups case by case; others prohibit them completely. Do not substitute “friends' trip” in the hope that nobody asks. If the booking breaches the conditions, the group can be refused entry or removed without the expected refund.
Ask the manager to write a clear sentence confirming acceptance for the named property and dates. General wording such as “groups welcome” is not enough.
A realistic bed and bathroom plan
A villa sleeping 12 may have four double beds and four sofa or bunk spaces. That can be fine, but the group should know before dividing the cost. Ask for a room-by-room plan, identify shared doubles and confirm whether any bedroom is accessed through another room or an external annexe.
For a group above eight, aim for at least three bathrooms. Registered whole-home tourist rentals in Andalucia require three full bathrooms when capacity exceeds eight people, although the exact layout and property category must still be checked.
Pool and outdoor space
A private pool can make a villa worthwhile, particularly after a late night. Confirm that it is private, open on the travel dates and included in the rate. Ask about heating outside summer, glass restrictions, barbecue use, loungers and shade.
Outdoor space must still be used within the house rules. A pool photograph does not imply permission for speakers, drinking games, a DJ or additional guests.
Noise, visitors and the difference between a stay and an event
Group-friendly accommodation can still require zero external noise late in the evening and prohibit all sound systems or visitors. Ask for the exact quiet hours, whether doors and windows must remain closed when music is playing, and what happens after a complaint.
Keep the main drinking and entertainment in licensed venues. The villa is the place to sleep, eat and use the pool within the rules; it is not a substitute nightclub.
Transport and parking
For a villa, obtain the exact address and price the real journeys before booking. A group of 12 may need three taxis each way, and availability can tighten at busy times. A pre-booked minibus gives the night a fixed departure time and prevents part of the group arriving late.
If golf or activities are planned, ask whether a minibus can reach the entrance and whether several sets of clubs can be stored safely. Do not assume a villa's garage or driveway is included.
Security deposit and damage procedure
Stag groups may face a larger deposit or additional screening. Ask for the amount, payment method, inspection process and refund date. Record existing damage on arrival and send photographs to the manager immediately rather than waiting until checkout.
The contract should explain deductions, lost keys, extra cleaning and call-out charges. One organiser should hold the booking correspondence, but the group should agree in advance how any valid deduction will be shared.
Registration and maximum occupancy
Request the Andalucian tourist-rental registration number and verify it in the official tourism register. Whole-home tourist rentals can normally register for up to 15 guests, subject to floor area and local restrictions. Do not exceed the contractual or registered capacity, even for somebody “just staying one night”.
