Marbella works well for a golf stag do when most of the party already plays and wants the round to be a main part of the weekend. Los Naranjos is convenient for Puerto Banús and Nueva Andalucía, while Cabopino and Higuerón offer clearly published rates farther east. Groups with beginners can opt for nine holes, coaching or pitch and putt instead of committing everyone to a full round.

Golf is not a good fit for every stag party. Eighteen holes will take up much of the day, larger parties must split across several tee times and every player is expected to follow the club's dress and behaviour rules. If half the group has never held a club, a lesson or shorter format will usually be more enjoyable.

The right course is not necessarily the one with the lowest green fee. Location, visitor rules, difficulty, equipment hire and the total time away from the accommodation matter just as much.

The quick answer

Staying in Puerto Banús or Nueva Andalucía: Los Naranjos is the most convenient course in this guide.

Lowest published 18-hole green fee: Cabopino, though the transfer is longer from Puerto Banús, San Pedro and Cancelada.

Straightforward buggy-inclusive rate: Higuerón publishes standard rates that include a shared buggy.

Staying in San Pedro or Cancelada: Guadalmina is well placed, but you will need to request a current visitor or group quote.

Regular golfers: Book 18 holes and leave a long gap before dinner.

Mixed ability: Choose nine holes, a team competition or separate coaching for beginners.

Time of year: Spring and autumn are generally more comfortable. Some summer tariffs are lower, but an early tee time is sensible in the heat.

Time needed: Set aside five to six hours for an 18-hole outing, including travel, check-in and equipment collection.

Published prices do not all cover the same things. One course may include a shared buggy while another charges for it separately, so compare the complete cost rather than the green fee alone.

Is Marbella suitable for a golf stag do?

Yes, if most of the party wants a proper daytime competition and is prepared to give it most of Saturday. It can suit mixed ages and non-drinkers, and it gives the weekend a focus away from bars and clubs.

There are courses in Nueva Andalucía, San Pedro de Alcántara and east Marbella, so you need not travel as far as Sotogrande or inland Málaga. Even so, Marbella stretches over a considerable distance. A cheap round on the opposite side of town may stop looking cheap once a minibus and extra travel time are added.

Golf is likely to work when:

Most guests play at least occasionally.

Everyone is willing to follow the club's dress, behaviour and pace-of-play rules.

The party is happy to spend much of Saturday on one activity.

Players understand that they will be split across separate tee times.

The budget covers equipment and transport as well as the green fee.

Choose a different activity, or a shorter form of golf, when:

Several guests have never played and do not want a lesson.

The plan involves fancy dress, drinking games or disruptive forfeits on the course.

Saturday already includes a boat, long lunch and fixed evening booking.

An early start is unlikely after the first night out.

Injuries, limited mobility or heat will make a long round uncomfortable.

Book golf because the stag genuinely wants to play, not simply because Marbella is known for it.

Eighteen holes, nine holes or a beginner session?

Eighteen holes

An 18-hole round makes sense when most of the party plays and golf is the main daytime plan. Los Naranjos gives an average round time of about four hours and ten minutes, but that covers only the golf. Travelling, checking in, collecting hire clubs and waiting for the final fourball can make the outing closer to six hours.

Do not time dinner from the first group's expected finish. The later tee times may come in well afterwards, and everyone will still need to return, shower and change.

Nine holes

Nine holes fit more easily into a two-night weekend and put less pressure on occasional players. Los Naranjos, Cabopino and Higuerón all publish nine-hole rates.

Before booking, ask which nine will be played, whether a shared buggy is included and how long the club expects the visit to take. Nine holes may leave room for lunch or time by the pool, but it should not become an excuse to fill every spare hour with another booking.

Lesson, range or pitch and putt

Complete beginners are often better off with a coached session than an 18-hole round played under pressure from those behind. Los Naranjos has a golf academy, while Real Club de Golf Guadalmina has a golf school, practice range and pitch-and-putt course.

Ask how many beginners one coach can take, whether clubs and balls are included and whether the experienced golfers can play at the same time. The clubs do not publish one standard stag-group lesson price, so request a written quote.

Los Naranjos Golf Club: convenient for Puerto Banús and Nueva Andalucía

Los Naranjos Golf Club is at Plaza de Cibeles in Nueva Andalucía. Of the courses covered here, it is the easiest to reach from Puerto Banús, Nueva Andalucía and the western end of the Golden Mile.

The par-72 course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. Its wide fairways do not make it a beginners' course: players still need to choose suitable tees, keep pace and understand basic etiquette.

The published 2026 tariff lists:

Low-season 18 holes with a buggy: €139.

Mid-season 18 holes with a buggy: €145.

High-season 18-hole green fee: €177, with an 18-hole buggy listed separately at €54.

Nine holes: €80, €85 or €106, depending on the season.

Club hire: €49 for 18 holes or €29 for nine holes.

Pull trolley: €10; electric trolley: €22.

Read the selected rate carefully. A buggy is included in the advertised low- and mid-season 18-hole prices, but the high-season green fee is shown separately from the €54 buggy charge.

Los Naranjos states that an average round takes four hours and ten minutes. Anyone who falls behind may be instructed by the marshal to pick up and move on. Collared tops are required, men's shirts must have sleeves and only soft-spike golf shoes are accepted. Bermuda shorts are allowed, but jeans, tracksuits, ordinary T-shirts and beachwear are not.

Buggy drivers must be at least 18 or hold a valid driving licence, and players must follow the course instructions in force that day. Ask whether the licence needs to be shown when collecting the buggy.

Suits: Golfers who want a full round close to Puerto Banús.

Less suitable for: Complete beginners or a party trying to keep the golf spend low.

Confirm before paying: Consecutive tee times, handicap requirements, group rate, buggy allocation, right- and left-handed hire sets, maintenance dates, deposit and cancellation terms.

Cabopino Golf Marbella: the lowest published rates in this guide

Cabopino Golf Marbella is near Cabopino Marina at the eastern end of Marbella. Its public green fees are lower than the other fully priced courses covered here, particularly in low season.

The 2026 tariff lists:

Eighteen holes without a buggy: €62 low season, €76 mid-season or €98 high season.

Eighteen holes with a shared buggy: €75 low season, €92 mid-season or €116 high season.

Nine holes: €40 low season, €49 mid-season or €60 high season.

Standard club hire: €25 for one day.

Premium club hire: €30, €35 or €38, depending on the set.

June, July and August fall within the published low season, although separate maintenance and summer offers apply on specified dates. The lower prices reflect the less comfortable playing conditions: a midday round in July or August can be hard work. Ask for an early tee time and reserve buggies if the players need them.

Cabopino makes most sense for accommodation in central or east Marbella. From Puerto Banús, Nueva Andalucía, San Pedro or Cancelada, compare the green-fee saving with the longer journey in both directions.

Suits: Players prioritising a lower public tariff and willing to travel east.

Less suitable for: A party staying west of Puerto Banús or heading to another fixed-time booking immediately afterwards.

Confirm before paying: The rate for the exact date and tee time, group spacing, handicap rules, hire sets, buggies, dress code, maintenance work, transport access, deposit and cancellation policy.

Higuerón Marbella Golf Resort: published rates include a shared buggy

Higuerón Marbella Golf Resort is the former Marbella Golf Country Club, renamed in November 2025. It sits at A-7 kilometre 188 in east Marbella. The 18-hole, par-72 course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and is hilly enough for a buggy to be useful.

The official 2026 rates list:

Eighteen holes with a shared buggy: €110 low season or €139 high season.

Twilight with a shared buggy: €83 low season or €104.50 high season; finishing all 18 holes is not guaranteed.

Nine holes with a shared buggy: €67 low season or €85 high season.

Eighteen-hole club hire: €45 for a 2023 set or €55 for a 2026 set.

Nine-hole club hire: €32 or €39.

Parties of eight or more can use the official group-rate enquiry form. It asks for the date, number of players and required hire sets, but does not promise a fixed discount.

The public price is based on a shared buggy. Ask how the club will allocate vehicles, particularly if the final number of players is odd.

The course describes its layout as challenging, so it is better suited to golfers looking for a proper round than to a large party of first-time players. It also involves a lengthy transfer from San Pedro, Cancelada and much of Nueva Andalucía.

Suits: Golfers who want a published price with a shared buggy included.

Less suitable for: Complete beginners and west-Marbella parties that want to minimise travel.

Confirm before paying: The applicable season, group quote, handicap rules, tee-time spacing, buggy allocation, hire clubs, maintenance dates, deposit and cancellation terms.

Real Club de Golf Guadalmina: well placed for San Pedro and Cancelada

Real Club de Golf Guadalmina is in Guadalmina Alta, within San Pedro de Alcántara. It has North and South 18-hole courses, a practice range, golf school and pitch-and-putt course. That range of facilities may help when the party contains experienced players and beginners.

The location is particularly useful for accommodation in San Pedro, Guadalmina or Cancelada, and it is also a manageable taxi journey from Puerto Banús.

Its public rates page was still headed 2025 when checked in September 2026, so those figures should not be used as current prices. Request the latest visitor rate, group terms and availability for the chosen course.

The club also publishes daily course status. Check it close to the date because the North and South courses can have different availability, and a status shown today says nothing about a future booking.

Suits: Parties staying in San Pedro, Guadalmina or Cancelada, particularly if some guests need a shorter or coached option.

Less suitable for: Anyone who needs to fix the budget without contacting the booking team.

Confirm before paying: Current visitor fee, stag-group acceptance, available course, handicap requirement, tee-time spacing, buggies, club hire, any temporary licence, dress rules, deposit and cancellation terms.

What should a Marbella golf stag do cost?

The green fee is only the starting point. Build the budget from the following parts.

Green fee

The verified 2026 examples in this guide range from €62 for an 18-hole green fee without a buggy at Cabopino to €177 for the high-season 18-hole green fee at Los Naranjos. Once buggies, equipment and transport are included, the difference may be smaller than it first appears.

Buggy

Higuerón includes a shared buggy in its standard public rates. Cabopino publishes prices both with and without one. Los Naranjos includes a buggy in some seasonal rates but lists it separately in high season.

Shared means the vehicle cost is not necessarily assigned to one player. Confirm the allocation, who may drive and how the club charges when there is an odd number of golfers.

Club hire

Published 18-hole hire prices run from €25 for Cabopino's standard set to €55 for a newer set at Higuerón. Los Naranjos lists 18-hole club hire at €49.

Reserve every set when booking the round. Give the club the number of right- and left-handed players and ask about shaft options, the make of the set and what is included. Shoes, balls and tees may be separate.

Transport

Transport depends on the accommodation and course. Los Naranjos may cost more to play but less to reach from Puerto Banús. A private minibus can be simpler than several taxis when everyone has to arrive for consecutive tee times, especially if players are bringing golf bags. Check luggage space as well as passenger capacity.

Food, water and competition extras

Budget for breakfast, water, food after the round and any agreed prizes. Ask what can be taken onto the course, whether there is a halfway service and if outside alcohol is allowed.

Some clubs can arrange scorecards, markers or other competition support. Get a complete written price rather than adding extras at the desk.

How to organise the players

Get firm numbers before requesting tee times

Divide the party into:

Regular golfers who want 18 holes.

Occasional golfers choosing between 18 and nine holes.

Beginners who need coaching or a shorter format.

Non-players making a separate plan.

Do this before paying a deposit. A reservation for 16 becomes difficult if five people later decide they never wanted to play.

Expect several playing groups

A large stag party cannot go round as one group. The club will decide the group size and gap between tee times. Ask for the final order in writing, distribute slower players sensibly and plan around the last group rather than the first.

Agree where everyone will meet after the round. If one vehicle is collecting the party, do not book it for the earliest possible finish.

Keep the competition simple

Stableford or a team format is usually easier than medal stroke play for mixed handicaps because one bad hole need not delay the rest of the field. Ask if handicap evidence is required and whether the club can provide official competition support.

Possible prizes include:

Best individual score.

Best team score.

Nearest the pin.

Longest drive.

A light-hearted award agreed by the party.

Nearest-the-pin and longest-drive markers need the club's approval. Do not bring signs, props or homemade challenges onto the course without asking.

Tell the club it is a stag booking

Give the booking team the true number and nature of the party. The course may accept stag groups while still applying its normal standards. Concealing the booking creates an avoidable problem if the players arrive in unsuitable clothing or with activities the club will not allow.

Beginners and non-golfers

Putting reluctant beginners through 18 holes rarely improves the day. Give them a realistic alternative.

Beginners who want to play

Ask for a coached range session followed by pitch and putt or nine holes. Confirm the maximum class size, what equipment is provided and whether the experienced golfers can play their round at the same time.

Beginners who want a social competition

A driving-range challenge or putting contest may work if the club approves the format. It is shorter and avoids the pressure of keeping pace across a full course.

Guests who do not want golf

Let them opt out and meet the golfers afterwards. They might stay by the pool, go to the beach or book a short activity of their own. They should not be charged an equal share of the golf unless everyone agreed to that arrangement at the outset.

If the party is evenly divided, choose accommodation and an evening plan that bring the two sides back together. Otherwise, the weekend can start to feel like two separate trips.

Approximate travel times

These are planning estimates in ordinary traffic, not guaranteed transfer times. The precise address, weekend congestion and roadworks can all make the journey longer.

Send the driver the club's official location as well as its name. Higuerón Marbella Golf Resort may still appear under its former name, Marbella Golf Country Club, in older search results and confirmations.

Arrange a morning transfer before travelling. Finding several taxis at the last minute is awkward enough without golf bags and a fixed tee time.

Best time of year for golf in Marbella

March to May

Spring usually brings more comfortable playing temperatures than midsummer, but demand and green fees can be higher. Rain and course maintenance are still possible, so check the club's terms for interrupted or cancelled play.

June to August

Some clubs publish lower summer rates because of the heat. The saving can work for players willing to start early; it is a poor reason to book a midday tee time after a late night.

Bring water, sunscreen and a hat, and reserve buggies if needed. Anyone who is dehydrated or still affected by alcohol should not drive a buggy or start a long round in high temperatures.

September to November

Autumn is another comfortable period for golf, though many courses return to higher seasonal prices. The chance of rain increases later in the season.

Winter

Golf is a useful winter stag activity in Marbella, but it remains weather-dependent. Shorter daylight makes tee time important. A twilight price may be attractive, but completing all 18 holes is not always guaranteed.

Dress code and behaviour

Golf clothing need not be expensive, but it must comply with the chosen club's rules. Los Naranjos, for example, requires collared shirts, sleeves for men and soft-spike golf shoes. It allows Bermuda shorts but not jeans, tracksuits, T-shirts or beachwear.

Check before ordering matching clothes. Golf polos may be accepted, while fancy dress, offensive slogans and exaggerated costumes may not be.

Problems on the course include:

Shouting between playing groups.

Playing music without permission.

Drinking heavily before or during the round.

Driving buggies carelessly.

Ignoring marshals or falling behind the required pace.

Hitting extra balls while another group waits.

Bringing unapproved props, signs or challenges.

Players whose behaviour affects others may be removed. Set the standard before the first night, not at the first tee.

Should you bring clubs or hire them?

Bringing clubs makes sense for regular golfers who know the airline's sports-baggage charge and plan to play more than once. For a two-night trip with one round, hiring may be simpler.

Compare:

Airline golf-bag charges in both directions.

Space in the airport and golf transfers.

The risk of delayed or damaged equipment.

The price and quality of the club's hire sets.

Left-handed and shaft requirements.

The number of rounds being played.

Do not leave a request for 10 or 12 hire sets until arrival. Stock is limited, and a stag party may need far more equipment than an ordinary visitor booking.

A realistic golf-stag Saturday

This example assumes accommodation near Puerto Banús or Nueva Andalucía and an 18-hole morning round at Los Naranjos. Change the transfer time for another course.

07:30–08:00: breakfast and water

Keep breakfast simple and make sure everyone is awake. An early round is unrealistic if Friday's plan is to stay in a club until 06:00.

08:15: group transfer

Use one pickup point and allow time for traffic, unloading equipment and finding the caddie master.

08:30–09:00: check-in and equipment

Collect the hire sets and buggies, confirm the playing order and leave time for a short warm-up. Everyone should arrive in the correct clothing.

09:00 onwards: consecutive tee times

Use a simple Stableford or team competition. Follow the marshal's instructions and agree that searches for lost balls will not hold up play.

Approximately 13:30–14:30: finish and regroup

The first group may finish well before the last. Allow time for scores, water and changing before the vehicle leaves.

15:00–16:00: return and late lunch

Keep the rest of the afternoon free for lunch, showers and a rest. A second demanding activity is unlikely to improve the day.

20:30: dinner in Puerto Banús

Jack's Smokehouse is a practical stag option because it is informal, has a broad menu and is close to the Puerto Banús bars. Reserve the actual party size and ask for the latest group-booking terms, deposit arrangements and final-number deadline.

Nomad is the more expensive option if the party wants dinner with entertainment. Use it only when the programme is confirmed for the date and the group is comfortable with the current booking terms.

Late evening: bars, live music or a booked club

Decide how late to continue once everyone has finished golf and eaten. Puerto Banús allows an easy bar-led night. If a large all-male party wants a nightclub, confirm the event, dress rules, arrival deadline and acceptance of the complete group before buying tickets or paying for a table.

Booking order

Find out who genuinely wants to play.

Record approximate handicaps and equipment needs.

Choose between 18 holes, nine holes and coaching.

Compare the full course and transport cost.

Request consecutive tee times and disclose the stag booking.

Obtain the price, inclusions and cancellation terms in writing.

Reserve hire clubs and buggies with the round.

Arrange transport with enough room for passengers and golf bags.

Leave enough time between the final tee time and dinner.

Send the dress code, pickup time and behaviour rules to the party.

Questions to ask the golf club

Can visitors play on the chosen date?

Is handicap evidence or a temporary licence required?

How will the players be divided, and how far apart are the tee times?

What does the quoted green fee include?

How many buggies are included or reserved?

Who may drive, and must they show identification or a licence?

Are enough right- and left-handed hire sets available?

What clothing and shoes are required?

Can the club arrange the chosen competition and course markers?

Is any maintenance planned, or are any holes due to close?

What happens if rain, wind or extreme heat affects play?

How much is the deposit, and when are final numbers due?

Can the booking be reduced if somebody drops out?

What are the cancellation and refund terms?
