There is no single best place to stay for every Marbella hen party. Old Town is the most walkable, Puerto Banús is the most convenient for nightlife, the Golden Mile and Nueva Andalucía offer more villas, and San Pedro or Cancelada can lower the accommodation cost. The compromise is simple: the farther the group moves from the main nightlife, the more important transport becomes.
For a weekend group, the property matters as much as the postcode. A beautiful villa can be a poor booking if outdoor music is prohibited, half the group is sleeping on sofa beds or every dinner requires several taxis. Equally, a central apartment may save money and simplify the evenings, but it will not provide the private pool day many groups have in mind.
Marbella Old Town: walkable and full of character
Old Town works best for a group that wants to step outside for coffee, tapas and dinner rather than spend most of the weekend at the accommodation. The narrow streets around Plaza de los Naranjos are lively and attractive, while the seafront and central Marbella bars are within walking distance from many properties.
The trade-off is space. Accommodation here is mainly apartments and townhouses rather than detached villas. Terraces can be small, pools are uncommon and access may involve stairs or a walk from the nearest vehicle drop-off. These are residential streets, so a central apartment is a base for getting ready and sleeping, not a private party venue.
Best for: A group planning restaurant meals, beach time and central Marbella evenings.
Less suitable for: A group whose main priority is a large pool, complete privacy or outdoor music.
Before booking: Check the exact walking route, lift access, luggage drop-off, nearby parking and whether every advertised sleeping place is a proper bed.
Puerto Banus: closest to the nightlife
Puerto Banus suits a hen group that wants dinner, cocktails and late venues close to the accommodation. Apartments around the marina place the group near the action, while townhouses and larger apartments in the surrounding area can offer a pool or terrace without being directly above the busiest bars.
Convenience carries a premium, particularly in summer. A marina-front address can also mean street noise late at night, limited parking and less outdoor space than the photographs suggest. Check the pin on the map rather than relying on “Puerto Banus” in the property title; some listings use the name for accommodation that still requires a taxi.
Best for: A group that expects to spend two or more evenings around Puerto Banus and wants to reduce late-night transfers.
Less suitable for: A group seeking quiet surroundings, a large garden or the best value per bedroom.
Before booking: Ask whether bedrooms face the marina or road, how late nearby venues operate, whether the pool is private or communal and whether security controls visitors.
The Golden Mile: villas, pools and more privacy
The Golden Mile runs between central Marbella and Puerto Banus. It is the strongest of the three areas for a group that wants a villa, pool and outdoor space while remaining close to both ends of Marbella.
The important word is close, not walkable. Some properties are near the beach and restaurants, while others sit uphill or behind fast roads. Even when the distance looks short on a map, the route may be impractical in heels or after dark. Budget for taxis or a pre-booked minibus and obtain the exact address before paying.
Detached accommodation feels more private, but it is not automatically tolerant of noise. Villas still have neighbours, community rules and outdoor quiet periods. A pool and terrace are suitable for a daytime lunch or relaxed drinks only if the owner has approved the group and the intended use.
Best for: Pool time, a private breakfast or lunch, and a group that wants to spend time together at the property.
Less suitable for: Guests who want to walk to every restaurant and bar or avoid transport costs.
Before booking: Check whether the pool is private, whether it can be heated, the permitted outdoor hours and the realistic taxi journey to the group's main venues.
Nueva Andalucia: worth considering for a larger villa
Nueva Andalucia sits inland from Puerto Banus and has a wider supply of villas, many with pools, gardens and several en-suite bedrooms. It can offer more space for the budget than the Golden Mile, and it is useful when the group wants one larger property rather than several apartments.
It is a taxi-based choice. Distances vary considerably across the area, and a listing described as close to Puerto Banus may not be a comfortable walk. The quieter residential setting also makes strict noise and visitor rules especially important.
Best for: Groups of ten or more prioritising bedrooms, bathrooms and outdoor space.
Less suitable for: A weekend built around spontaneous walks into Old Town or the marina.
San Pedro de Alcántara: a more relaxed base near Marbella
San Pedro has its own town centre, restaurants, beach and seafront. It can suit a group that wants a less hectic base while remaining within reach of Puerto Banús and Marbella by taxi.
Accommodation can include hotels, apartments and larger flats with communal pools. That can be more practical than paying for a villa when the group mainly wants bedrooms, a pool and somewhere to meet before going out.
Best for: A group balancing accommodation value, beach access and a more local atmosphere.
Less suitable for: Guests expecting to walk to Puerto Banús nightlife or a Puerto Banús boat departure.
Before booking: Check which side of town the property is on, whether the pool is private or communal and the complete late-night transport plan.
Cancelada, Estepona: better-value space with transport required
Cancelada is in Estepona, west of Marbella. It is not a Marbella neighbourhood. The area has villas, townhouses and flats with communal pools, and it can offer substantially better value than Nueva Andalucía, the Golden Mile or central Marbella.
Some live searches may show a Cancelada villa at around half the price of a comparable Marbella property, but that is not a dependable rule. Dates, standard, pool type, fees and cancellation terms must be compared like for like. Do not publish a fixed 50% saving without current matched examples.
The group will normally need transport to Puerto Banús and Marbella. Add every expected taxi or minibus journey before treating the lower nightly price as a saving.
Best for: Groups prioritising bedrooms, a pool and shared space over nightlife on the doorstep.
Less suitable for: A short trip with several fixed bookings in central Marbella or Puerto Banús.
Before booking: Confirm that the address is genuinely in Cancelada, the pool arrangements, group acceptance and whether a minibus can reach the property.
Four realistic accommodation options
Prices in Marbella change by date, length of stay and cancellation terms. The figures below are planning bands for the whole property, not quotations. Allow separately for cleaning, booking fees, refundable security deposits, pool heating and transfers.
Central apartment or penthouse for 6-8 guests
Typical planning band: About €450-€900 per night, or roughly €55-€115 per person when full.
This is the practical Old Town choice: two or three bedrooms, a living area and perhaps a roof terrace, with restaurants and the beach within walking distance. It works when the group will spend most of the day out and values location over facilities.
Honest limitation: The final guests may be on sofa beds, and a terrace does not make an apartment suitable for music or a gathering. Confirm the bed plan, bathrooms, lift and house rules.
As a current market reference, an Old Town penthouse advertised for eight guests was showing a one-night total from approximately €669 including taxes for a selected August 2026 date when checked. That is a live marketplace price and can change with the date and demand.
San Pedro or Cancelada flat with a communal pool for 8-12 guests
This can be the practical alternative to a villa. Two nearby flats or one large apartment may provide enough proper beds, several bathrooms and access to a shared pool without the price or responsibility of a detached home.
Price guidance: Compare live totals for the exact dates. Do not describe Cancelada as half the price unless a current like-for-like comparison supports it after fees and transport.
Honest limitation: Communal pools have opening hours and community rules. The group cannot treat them as a private party area, and Cancelada requires planned transport to Marbella and Puerto Banús.
Puerto Banus townhouse or large apartment for 8-10 guests
Typical planning band: About €550-€1,200 per night, or roughly €55-€150 per person when full.
This category gives the group more shared space than a marina apartment while keeping Puerto Banus close. A terrace, communal pool or small private pool is possible, but these facilities must be checked rather than assumed.
A current published example is Villa Antonio in Puerto Banus, a five-bedroom townhouse advertised for up to ten guests from €560 per night, with a private pool and rooftop terrace.
Honest limitation: The listing does not state that hen parties are automatically accepted. The organiser should disclose the group and obtain written approval before paying.
Golden Mile villa for 10-12 guests
Typical planning band: About €1,000-€2,500+ per night, or roughly €85-€250+ per person when full.
This is the classic villa-weekend option: several bedrooms, a private pool, a garden or terrace and enough shared space for breakfast and an afternoon at home. Premium properties, beachfront positions and peak summer dates can cost substantially more.
A current published example is Villa Mariposais on the Golden Mile, advertised for up to 12 guests from €1,080 per night, with six bedrooms, six bathrooms, a private pool and pool bar.
Honest limitation: A villa at this level may require a longer minimum stay, a substantial security deposit and strict outdoor rules. The listing does not give blanket approval for hen groups, so written acceptance is essential.
The examples above were checked on 14 August 2026. They show genuine property types and published starting prices, but they are not recommendations that a particular home will accept every group or remain available.
What matters when booking hen accommodation
Written acceptance of the group
Tell the owner or manager that it is a hen group, give the ages and state what will happen at the property. “No parties” can mean no unregistered visitors, no amplified music, no decorations or no celebration groups at all. A phone conversation is not enough; keep the approval in the booking message or contract.
Some attractive Marbella villas accept only families or guests above a stated age, while others consider hen groups case by case. Never hide the reason for the trip to secure a booking. The group risks losing both the accommodation and its deposit on arrival.
A pool that is genuinely useful
Check whether the pool is private or shared, open on the travel dates and included in the price. From autumn to spring, ask whether heating is available and what it costs. Also check the number of loungers, shade around the pool and rules on glass, inflatables and outdoor music.
Pool photographs can be deceptive. Ask whether the pictured area belongs exclusively to the property and whether building work or maintenance is scheduled nearby.
Outdoor and getting-ready space
For a group of ten, one outdoor table seating six is not enough. Look for a shaded dining area, a usable kitchen, fridge space and an indoor fallback if the weather changes. Count bathrooms and mirrors as carefully as bedrooms, particularly when everybody needs to leave at the same time.
If the group plans a private chef, yoga session, beautician or other supplier, obtain written permission. The property may treat that person as an external visitor or commercial event and charge an additional fee.
Noise tolerance and neighbours
A detached villa is not a licence for a villa party. Ask for the property's exact quiet hours, rules for music inside and outside, visitor restrictions and the consequences of a complaint. Some group-friendly properties still ban DJs, speakers outdoors and any noise after a specified evening time.
Plan the louder part of the celebration at licensed venues. Use the accommodation for breakfast, pool time and relaxed drinks within the rules.
Walking distance in real life
Ask for travel times to the specific restaurants and nightlife areas in the itinerary. “Ten minutes from Puerto Banus” often means by car. Check hills, road crossings and whether taxis can reach the front door. For a villa, price at least one group transfer each way on the main night.
Bedrooms, bathrooms and the final price
Request a room plan showing every double, twin, bunk and sofa bed. Ask whether bedroom access is internal and whether any rooms are in an annexe. For more than eight guests, three bathrooms is a sensible minimum and is also consistent with the capacity requirements that apply to registered whole-home tourist rentals in Andalucia.
The written total should show accommodation, tax where applicable, cleaning, booking fees, pool heating, security deposit and payment dates. Confirm which charges are refundable and when the final guest number becomes fixed.
The tourist-rental registration
Ask for the Andalucian tourist-rental registration number and verify it through the Junta de Andalucia's tourism register. A whole-home tourist rental can normally register for no more than 15 guests, subject to space and local restrictions. Never accept extra mattresses that take the group beyond the legal or advertised capacity.
